What's your point? Our Cy-Young starting pitchers had a combined ERA of 4.68 in the World Series too in 4 games (went 1-3 in those games). Urquidy pitched the best game on the team. And how did Los Angeles' elite pitching do in the 2017 World Series?

Generally, the team that scores more runs is going to win. That can be accomplished through better hitting or better pitching, and can be done by scrubs or elite players.

So, this thread is about pitching? Is it time to move on from James or at least put him back in the pen?

I think its less about time and more about necessity.

Is it time to give Whitley a shot? We gave a guy who's never pitched above A ball a chance. Why not Whitley?

Like half our pitchers... Whitley has "arm discomfort"

It certainly seems like it. If not now, when?

Looking that way, but they still need his innings. Personally given the turmoil and uncertainty I have been and still am in favor of having tandem starters for everyone except Greinke. We saw the benefit of that concept last night with James and Valdez. My pitching staff would be:

    Greinke
    McCullers/Sneed
    James/Valdez
    Javier/Abreu
    Bielak/Bailey

High leverage relievers: Pressly, Taylor, Scrubb
Low leverage relievers: Castellanos, Paredes, Rodriguez, Sanabria

Having a 2nd guy always ready to throw 3+ innings in relief is a necessary insurance policy in the current environment.

But in a normal season, yes I would say James should be converted back into a high leverage reliever.

Does every washed up former mlb pitcher got straight to Sugarland to revive their careers? Its crazy how many former pitchers pitch for them.

Where else can they go (other than overseas) when they don’t make an mlb team?

I mean there are other teams in that league. It just seems like every pitcher comes from the Skeeters.

I think Baker said he started to feel discomfort during Summer camp and again at the camp he's at now. Ok it's obvious because all these random pitchers are getting a shot but sounds like Whitley would have been called up had he been healthy.

True... but every other team is located in the northeast, and its highly likely the Astros have had local front office members available to see the SL team in person.

Actually all the teams in the Energy League are right here in Sugar Land. The Atlantic League folded when the pandemic hi, so they created the Energy League to provide an opportunity for minor leaguers, released by their MLB teams, to play. I wouldn't doubt scouts from several teams are paying attention.

Luis Gonzalez once visited the Mariano Trench, dipped his steel balls into it's depths, and there was no shrinkage. Nobody's balls can survive the Osuna Trench. Depths unknown.

Good to know. Has any other teams signed players from this league thus far?
