At that time there was no social distancing protocol being recommended. You are applying rules created after her speech to apply to her speech. Do you not see the problem with that?

Anyone could have seen that it was a bad idea bro. She should have been more responsible. We knew about this virus and the threat at that time. Instead she went all WOKE in order to politick instead of doing the right thing. She was either intentionally spreading it or too stupid. Not sure which is worse when it is a high level official.

And no Trump didn't get it right either. He should have already been working on closing things off and protecting us.

You can feel optimistic about the drug, which is an opinion you are entitled have, but should be presented and qualified as such.

The problem is your posts do more than that by presenting Chloroquine being a likely treatment when there is no scientific evidence to support it being anymore likely than other drug being explored (none of which you have ever referenced AFAIK).

Yet you keep posting misinformation (e.g. presenting the FDA Emergency Authorization like if it was an approval) that makes it seem that drug is showing more promise than it actually has.

That was two weeks before any recommendation from the CDC about large gatherings. And you yourself were saying this wasn't a big deal - so you say anyone could have seen it....but you didn't see it. Do these contradictions ever enter your mind?

How you change your tune when you find some tiny grain that might serve your political cause.

I think you are being somewhat deceptive with this post. This is a story about Pelosi touring Chinatown on Monday FEBRUARY 24th! The point she was making is that you should not avoid a business just because the establishment was owned or operated by an Asian-American.

You should know that right here in Houston our mayor and many others said the exact same thing. Pelosi did nothing wrong here.

Your post makes it sound like Pelosi toured Chinatown on Monday(yesterday).

By the way. At the end of the report they say Trump was in India and he said the Coronavirus was under control in the United States. Talk about something that didn’t age well.

If I remember correctly, @dachuda86 was fearful that back then. From his standpoint, none of this aged well. But that's not from most other perspectives. We didn't know of any outbreak within our border and we didn't know of any community spread either. If the logic is we should have known - I agree we should have. But that's a failure of the system. Officials can only use data they know at the time. The failure here goes back to us being blind because our system of early detection fails. And once we discovered that hole, we also found out we were completely unprepared and thus couldn't cover it up fast enough. We also didn't have any pre-planning with state and local officials to be prepared - lack of PPE and other equipment. It was an amazing failure. We are where we are today due to a lack of preparedness by the federal government. We will get out of here mostly due to local government and officials taking steps ahead of the fed government once they realize we were blind. The fed gov eventually catch up to help but are a few steps too slow.... which is deadly against a virus that spread this fast and is this deadly.

No where did @dachuda86 or anyone else for that matter call for social distancing at that time. It's disingenuous at best to claim that Pelosi was idiotic for saying people should not be afraid to go to Chinatown on 2/24. People we calling for us to prepare. To get testing in place. No one said anything about avoiding crowds at that time.

Revenues were bound to go down for all cities. Trickle down economics (stimulus check) will solve that though :).

According to the health data stats the peak is may 6 for texas.

    I dont understand.
If it takes 5 days or so to get it then why is the peak of deaths in may? Shouldnt it be sooner?
This means new people are still getting it? How?

Where are they getting it from? Wouldnt the peak be sooner? Appreciate anyone insight

Slightly diff topic but want to get some feedback:

Have a family trip booked for second week of June. Booked it prior to the outbreak. I have till June 5th to cancel but wondering if you guy think there’s any hope.

Yes the trip includes flying and being in close proximity to thousands of strangers.

    ???

there’s some hope . You did good with the late cancellation availability . id say maybe 10-20 percent chance depending on where .

The fact you mention 1000’s of people isn’t a good thing in your favor tho . If it was some Airbnb in Vermont I’d say you’d be fine haha

@dobro1229 that’s not something anyone here can prognosticate if only to make you feel better about your decision. Big things to consider...where is it, how long, who’s going to be with you, how old are they, who lives with you when you return home, how old are they, what’s its public infrastructure like, do you have data of current hospital capacity, and would you mind staying longer if an unexpected wave happens. Just because it’s not a cruise doesn’t mean you don’t consider what shitstorms could happen like those cruises.

You put all those ingredients into the pot, then start tasting out how you’d feel in those worst cases, whether you’re okay with that risk/reward, but more importantly if your SO/family would be okay with it enough that you don’t have to eat their displeasure/misery. I get we all need to feel alive and have shared experiences. Just make sure everyone is prepared with the risks involved. From the looks of it, being around 1000s is a hell no from me unless that place has near instant testing, a response plan that’s available/makes sense, and their own supply of ventilators...

I know someone “stuck” here and although nothing major, she has the problem of not earning any money during her extended vacation.

At that time people in la were still shook up over Kobe and gathering at Staples Center to grieve.

    Oops

If you have all had the virus and fully recovered by then, you should be good. Otherwise I would say dont take the risk

Watching coverage on Fox News and CNN is a reminder of how narrow-minded people can be.

Neither side is willing to admit anything that doesn't fit their narrative which is the exact reason most conflict exists.
