We've had several incidents with eating animals lately that have caused major issues

Both have had casualties , but at least Popeye's is delicious and doesn't cause the near collapse of the human race.

Article is from an opinion columnist who writes for a Rupert Murdoch paper. The Sun is basically OG Fox News...

US factory farms and food processing aren't that great. Consider how many salmonella and ecoli out breaks we get. I will keep on saying it. Wet markets aren't the problem. Poorly regulated wet markets are. Poorly regulated any food production and delivery system is.

Well-timed criticism of China's handling of the outbreak on the day the US overtook China and Italy as the world leader in cases.

which happens unless you drag people forcibly from their homes and then weld their apartment buildings shut.

So the Herald Sun is saying if only the Chinese had been more authoritarian and overbearing over there, then us in the West could have been spared both the virus and infringements on our own freedoms. I get it, they made mistakes, and then moved decisively to fix their mistakes. We made mistakes, we're reluctant to pay the price to fix our mistakes, and now threaten to double-down on our mistakes -- but blame China that we're in this mess in the first place? Sorry to be serious in a not serious thread, but we really have no one to blame but ourselves.

The next pandemic can easily come from the US. Swine flu may have come from the US.

This isn't just about Chinese markets - this is a global problem in the animal industry that needs to be solved globally. Yes China needs to take steps but if it's just China than the world has learned nothing.

I mean Blue Bell Iceream had a bacterial outbreak in one of their facilities that caused massive recalls.

I blame the people who put the virus in a human after not learning the lessons after the last virus they put in humans. I guess that's just me tho. I've never seen a pangolin taking a crap on a bat in a Krogers.

Comparing it to the 5 e coli deaths in 2013 is beyond insanity. That poster has jumped the shark.

The real threat is anywhere where humans come to interact with wild animals or animals that are exposed to wild animals. Generally chicken farms and pig farms are safer because they are domesticated animals and thus unlikely to be a reservoir for viruses.
