Trump just gave the all clear - AMERICA IS BACK!

Fear pornographers who think we'll see 200,000 deaths in the USA can continue hiding under their beds or suckling on their mommy's teets. Meanwhile The_Conquistador is going to go play some golf!

They are in the process of passing a huge stimulus bill for this reason.

If he ends all of this in a week like he is planning, he will be held accountable for his selfishness and complete lack of preparation and lack of leadership. I hope it doesn’t cause the pandemic to spread but make no mistake, he and the Republicans in Congress and Senate will pay severely... the President is staking everything on everyone returning to work and the virus not spreading.

Is it cause NY's governor has been asking for it for a while now, and he doesn't want to seem like he's caving in?

I honestly have no idea. How baffling.

He's doing so bad, in fact, that our death rate is about a factor of 10 lower than other countries with comparable number of cases.

By all means, let's get that death rate up!

If you are going to have a moniker like that, you might be wise to at least check some basic statistics before posting, lest the seal become .. .you.

I agree. While I have been questioning the economic impact of this, vs the health impact, from the beginning...ending the quarantines too early is maybe the worst outcome. UNLESS it really isn't that dangerous. Various people are indicating that yes, this is worse then the flu, but not large magnitudes worse (ie, 0.1% fatality rate vs maybe 0.4 or 0.5). We do nothing, nationally, for the flu even though it kills tens of thousands, that has been my rubric.

The swamping of the hospitals, though, is a concern, and would likely hike that fatality rate up. This has always been about keeping the hospitals from being swamped under. THAT is where the deaths will come from.

Guess what, you're going to get your wish with a big assist from Donald John Trump. The NYC hospital system is about 10-14 days from collapse. Other cities will follow. Chicago is probably not far behind, Louisiana is already in trouble, and Florida is probably worst off of all.

All of you who voted for him bear responsibility, to some degree, for this insane ****ing tragedy.

It's the pre-school sandbox model of governance. I mean that literally.

We are not close to a 6 month shut down and short of a bubonic plague level fatality rate it wasn’t going to happen. By that point markets could be open but it wouldn’t matter.

There consequences for everything and the long term viability of the economy is of paramount importance. However Trump thinking that a total of two weeks of a half assed quarantine is going to be successful is reckless and will endanger many lives.

A month? Okay, there would be concerns if it is long enough but that would be at least debatable and could offer promise. Hell China is just now starting the process of opening areas back up.

Also contrary to what Trump believes, the stock market is not the only indicator of the economic health of the USA.

What this pandemic has taught me (and I never believed the 500K to 1.5 M thrown around) is that we cannot count on leadership coming together for the best interest of the people. The President has been largely inept. The federal government has been poorly prepared and we have been lied to by the President and deceived by the congress and Senate.

It's too early to talk about death rates, honestly.

Fingers crossed for us all. We just have to do what we can. Listening to this POTUS should be about the last priority on our lists versus maintaining our health and listening to our local governments.

Please post a source for these wild, incendiary, and irresponsible forecasts. Trying to whip up panic is probably the last thing we need during this situation.

sorry that the guy you voted for and still support as president has ruined the economy, endangered the lives of millions, and is such a narcissistic, dimwitted ******* that the rest of us have a hard time feeling sorry for you and your ilk. we've been telling you for 4 years how dangerous this goon was but y'all wouldn't have it. y'all helped create this mess, y'all can take the brunt of the criticism.

keep up the good fight, though... i'm sure dear leader will take care of you.

Despite the best efforts of the Democrats and their hand-puppets in the mass media to use the coronavirus crisis as a tool to take down President Trump, their efforts have been foiled again as President Trump's approval rating has jumped 5 points and now matches the Gallup poll all-time high.

Gallup: Trump job approval rating matches all-time high

President Trump’s job approval rating has jumped by 5 points in the latest Gallup survey, matching the high-point of his presidency, as a majority of voters say they have a positive view of how the president has handled the coronavirus pandemic.

The new poll finds Trump’s job approval rating at 49 percent, up from 44 percent in the same survey earlier this month. The 49 percent job approval rating is the high mark for Trump since he came into office. He first hit that mark in late January, shortly before he was acquitted by the Senate in his impeachment trial.

The president’s job approval rating has remained steady among Republicans (92 percent), but he’s gained 8 points among independents (43 percent) and 6 points among Democrats (13 percent).

It appears that Trump’s handling of the coronavirus response is behind the approval rating bump. Sixty percent of voters overall said they approve of the job Trump is doing to address the epidemic, including 94 percent of Republicans, 60 percent of independents
    and 27 percent of Democrats.

It is good to see that we have a leader who has a background in solving problems, coping with crisis situations and getting things actually done.

    All fair and good comments.

There will be plenty of time afterwards to analyze what coulda shoulda woulda's….I'm sure there will be lessons learned. Would be a monumental waste if there weren't. I'm sure there will be things that could have been better if we had acted decisively sooner--hindsight always being wonderful. We seem to have taken reasonable actions that put us ahead of most other industrialized nations. If we were Italy...then it might be appropriate to be criticizing currently...but we're not. I would like to think we could all be glad for that...but we don't seem to live in that world any more..although it seems you do, B-bob. Hope you and yours are safe in SF, as well as everyone else there.
