I don't like Acosta or CNN, but that was both accurate and hilarious. Trump loses the exchange by a long shot.

Would prefer that a reporter not respond to a president that way, but, trump should not have chosen that venue and time to continue his petty feud with the media, CNN, and Acosta. But he is trump, so it is what it is.

Agreed. It's one of the reasons I don't like Acosta. Yet, it was on point even if unprofessional.

My first reaction was to groan and was about to dismiss it as attributed to unnamed "intelligence sources", but them I read the article and it was very specific in naming were it came from and that it probably had a lot to do with this, which is probably the most newsworthy thing here, as it never actually mentions what this "endorsement" is. Like the description of a Lovecraftian monster, for which one is assured by implication in narration that it's really horrific, the reader is still essentially left to his own imagination.

The word "endorsing" implies a public statement was made by Putin like he did in 2004 when he endorsed W over Kerry, or in 2008 when Medvedev, as did most Russians endorsed Obama over McCain, or in 2012 when Putin endorsed Obama in an RT interview before the election.

I don't doubt there was something of substance presented in the meeting or Trump wouldn't have been so upset about the possibility of it being "weaponized,"but there was nothing nearly that interesting, and if there were, we'd all know about it by now.

It's perfectly normal for the leadership of another country to have a preference, but it's also hard to imagine how 18 months of his administration's necon erection-inducing belligerence has endeared him much to the Kremlin or the Duma.

It's also very normal for opposing parties to make more out of it to excite low-information voters.
Do you not remember Gore's good working relationship with Chernomyrdin which he touted in 2000 as proof of his diplomatic credentials for which all the GOP primary hopefuls took turns going full Rachel Maddow on him for it? In retrospect, for all the hanging chads or Ralph Nader voters, scaring the **** out of old people with "Russia!" probably hurt Gore's chances in Florida more.

What isn't normal is the relationship that's evolved between the legacy press and US security services since 2003. Journalists critical of hawkish foreign policy or actually speak truth to power have been fired and marginalized or even incarcerated, while outgoing security apparatchiks are hired as journalists.

When seemingly every politician the pro-war foreign policy establishment doesn't like is called a Russian agent satire is the only response to a piece like this.

LOL... love how that is described as an "overstatement" that russia was actively supporting trump. Not that it was not true. Not that russia was not helping trump. But it was an "overstatement."

You won't earn your Explorer's Badge in my sad little world with that kind of attitude. We've got strict guidelines in my sad little world.

This isn't your super-happy gigantic world that you're used to.

Come on, guys. This is a diversion. All major countries do this. What do you think Voice of America is? It's a propaganda machine. What do you think American "intelligence" does in Russia? Strictly defensive? How about sabotaging their power grid without asking the president? Everyone does this crap.

So, the big NYT times story is "Latest report does not contain what Democrats want it to contain."

When we blame Russia for Trump, we're saying "It's not our fault."
It IS our fault. Let's fix it.
"It's not our fault" is the Democrat excuse; it's not for all Americans.

Question for the group: who was president when Russia interfered in the 2016 election, and why did that person not take immediate, decisive action to prevent it?

Sen. Blumenthal is saying there is evidence that isn't in the public report and is asking that it be declassified.

Further saying that other countries including the US does stuff like this isn't a reason why as US citizens we shouldn't be concerned about foreign interference in our elections.

This has been rehashed many times over but to reiterate Obama didn't want to appear he was tipping the election. I think it is certainly a fair criticism of Obama and I personally felt he, his DOJ including the FBI should've done more.
