The Astros potentially have the best offensive team in Baseball in 2020, provided several key players stay healthy, and have career years like Carlos Correa, José Altuve, and George Springer. Not sure baseballs will be flying out this year, but the Astros have multiple players capable of 50 home run seasons, nice if they had them in the same season:)

The MLB.com article announcing Baker’s hire mentioned James Click from the Rays had interviewed for the GM job. I would really like him, especially if he were able to keep Putila. The article also mentioned Gene Watson from the Royals was a candidate; those 2 join Peter Woodfork (from mlb formerly of the Diamondbacks) and Bobby Evans (formerly of the Giants) as the confirmed candidates.

The Bryant and Arenado sagas do not bode well for Correa’s stock. Oh well. Hopefully he stays healthy and has a 7 WAR season like we all know he’s capable of.

With Baker signed for one year.... is Hinch in play for next year?

Highly doubtful, the blowback would be too strong. But it would be hilarious if Crane hires Baker and Evans for 1 season then brings back Hinch and Luhnow.

I can't afford season tickets, but I would buy season tickets and get a Crane is god tattoo.

That level of f**k you would earn my eternal loyalty.

Agreed, but from what I’ve seen of Crane, he doesn’t have the balls to even consider something like that.

What if Astros win World Series with Baker and Evans this year, exercise club option on Baker and win next year as well?

Astros need to embrace being the villain. Maybe dress up Orbit in a Orange Darth Vader costume. The best part of the whole banging scheme, besides the double entendre of Manfred using this to describe a cheating scandal, is that the Yankee fans feel that the All-Powerful Astros have been picking on them. Granted, no team has knocked the Yankees out of the playoffs more than the Astros...which is amazing considering 5 seasons ago was the first time the Astros met the Yankees in the playoffs.

I did a double take on this, but its true. The Astros are tied with 3 teams at 3 Yankee eliminations (Dodgers, Cardinals, Tigers are the others) going back to 1913. Amazing!

Also, two of those Tigers teams were last decade with Verlander. Verlander has been on 4 teams responsible for eliminating the Yankees in his career. That is pretty amazing.

Lost in this offseason from hell, has there been any discussion of when they are going to hang the 2019 AL championship flag in centerfield? I mean, we did win the pennant for Christ's sake.

Should wait until the Yankees come to town.

All kidding aside, I would assume the first home series.
