    He was a first round pick. We shouldn't have low expectations for that. He showed some flashes but wasn't really good for a first rounder. It was less that about him than it was that he's a reach

    @PFF_Texans: With Tytus Howard's rookie season coming to an end, let's look back on his grades since moving to right tackle in Week 3:

    * 63.4 overall (44th of 81 tackles)

    * 72.1 pass block (29th)

    * 54.2 run block (56th) https://t.co/rsTQxgSuxM

    They got a starting tackle with the 23rd pick who played well after the line settled other spots

    Go back to sleep

    You are the only one in a group of strong O'Brien hate still criticizing the pick. Relax

    Grades are not sacks, tackles for loss. If you are going to pay someone $100 million+....I don't want ****ing grades only......I want NUMBERS (10 plus sacks, TFL, balls batted down...Hell....just TACKLES.

    Meh. Our oline will still be racking dem penalties regardless of who mans the line.

    U figured our coach would have been able to fix it by now

    Right. Just like walks are not hits. Taking charges are not rebounds. Deflecting passes is not Interceptions or steals.

    Take a look at the other 100 million guys who have 6 or less sacks entering into today's games.

    And they would be OVERPAID.

    The problem for Clowney is the Texans have a $100 million player who produced (before the injuries and even after).

    You realize the argument is about the stupid trade. There was no requirement to extend him this year. Especially since they mortgaged the future to win this year

    As a result, the Texans now have the worst defense since Crennel got here. And no sign of it getting better anytime soon. With OBriens mediocre offense it's not promising.

    He picked Taylor as his number one OT (second round pick). Howard was his honorable mention.

    Runner-up: Tytus Howard, Houston Texans (1st round, No. 23 overall)
    Despite missing half the season due to injury, Howard was arguably the best rookie pass protector in the league this season. Lining up primarily at right tackle, his shuffle athleticism and ability to reset on the move allowed him to shut down edge rushers and maintain the integrity of the pocket. If he started 16 games (instead of only eight), he might have overtaken Taylor on the top line. Although he was labeled as a reach on draft day, Howard is well on his way to vindicating Houston for the selection and changing the narrative.

    It's great that he did "pretty good" once settled into a better spot.

    It sucks that (i) he was sold as a LT (and isn't), (ii) he got injured, and perhaps most importantly (iii) he could have been picked later and the Texans might have been able to pick up an asset to move back 10 picks or so.

    He was the second best rookie tackle in the draft class and we got him in the 20s. The guy everyone b*tched about not trading up for had a worse season than him. It seems weird to complain about this pick?
