Only the strong and self sufficient can make all decisions for themselves. The UK isn't an empire anymore. It only has 67 million people. 65 without NI. It can't even feed itself. They are dependant. When it comes the time to make the FTAs they will have to bend down and do as they are told. Either by the US or the EU . If the US comes and says we won't make FTA unless you allow chlorinated chickens then what is the UK going to do? Say no and starve ? The US and the EU can hold on for years and take their time and pressure but the UK cannot do that. They can't trade with WTO terms they aren't Somalia. Don't have the illusion that the UK is america. America has vast fields and farms. Even if it was cut off from the rest of the world it would survive.
A problem has arisen. ERG -> Johnson has to publicly say that after the WTA expires in 2020 even with no FTA we will leave with no deal. Labour and ex Tories -> Johnson has to publicly say that after the WTA expires in 2020 with no FTA reached, we will ask for extension. They have put Johnson on the spot and he will be asked to make a decision and statement on that tomorrow. Just because there is a WTA it doesn't mean there won't be a no deal Brexit. It's also extremely naive to believe that in 1 year they will be able to reach a FTA with the US or EU when it has taken almost decades for other blocks to reach one.
Absurd. Our chicken companies will sell them chickens using whatever kind of process they want, as long as it is profitable for these companies to do so. Rather than starve, the UK is likely going to continue struggling with an obesity epidemic, just like us. As far as a FTA between us and the UK, that will be done almost certainly within a year and maybe quite a bit faster, as they have apparently already started working on it. The US already has interim trade arrangements in place with the UK for after Brexit, so there will be no disruption there. And the FTA will come very soon thereafter.
Yup. The american chicken companies will sell them chickens using what process they want and the UK will have to obey like a good boy. Before they had a saying and a vote, but now they will just to do as they are told.
So much for super Saturday. There will be an extension asked by Johnson after all lol Another day another defeat by the government. Before it even had a chance to put their deal for voting they lost the amendment vote, and then just boycotted the rest of the day. The DUP man..they got their revenge already. Stabbing Johnson in the back and working now with Labour. hahaha Now they are mortal enemies. In any case, now Johnson poor Johnson who keeps saying I will not ask for an extension will have to choose, between resigning, going to prison and being replaced by someone else, or actually asking for an extension with his own hands. The new meaningful vote on Johnsons' deal will be on Tuesday. More and more delaying. again.
"If Johnson has failed to send the letter as required, by 11pm tonight, the court is expected to rule on Monday on whether to give Johnson 24 hours to do so or face being held in contempt of court. Legal sources believe the prime minister is in significant legal peril. Lawyers for the UK government told the court on 9 October they knew the solemn pledges given at an earlier hearing that Johnson would comply with the act were legally-binding. The UK government told the court of session on Friday 4 October the prime minister accepted “he is subject to the public law principle that he cannot frustrate its purpose or the purpose of its provisions. Thus he cannot act so as to prevent the letter requesting the specified extension in the act from being sent.” 11 pm tonight. about 7 hours. The clock is ticking. Prison or extension?
PM Johnson: I will not negotiate Brexit delay British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Saturday he would not negotiate a delay to Brexit, after lawmakers backed a proposal to withhold approval for his agreement until formal ratification legislation has passed. If a deal is not approved by parliament by the end of Saturday, Johnson is required by law to ask the European Union for a three-month delay to Brexit. “I will not negotiate a delay with the EU and neither does the law compel me to do so,” Johnson told parliament after the vote. I will tell our friends and colleagues in the EU exactly what I have told everyone else in the last 88 days that I have served as prime minister: that further delay would be bad for this country, bad for the European Union and bad for democracy.”
If Johnson's deal passes next week then no matter there will be Brexit on 30th November. But with today's happenings, it is impossible. After the UK also the EU must ratify the WTA and the next time they will meet for that will be on the end of November.
One month ago: Today: Oops! I guess Johnson isn't for that prison life. Lie Lie Lie Lie....Too scared to lie to the courts though.
Guess no hard Brexit it then. They should just revote. If leave, then hard leave and get it over with.
The UK isn’t the only place run by children.. There seems to be a lot of childish behavior going on around the World. It would be funny if so much wasn’t at stake...
The letter was not only unsigned, it was a photocopy of the letter, which clearly obfuscates the validity of this document even further. Boris Johnson sends unsigned request to Brussels for Brexit delay Johnson sent three letters: an unsigned photocopy of the request he was obliged to send under the Benn act, an explanatory letter from the UK’s ambassador to the EU and a letter explaining why Downing Street did not want an extension. If someone sends you an unsigned photocopy of a letter that is required of them to request and authorize an important action, would that suffice for you? Answer: No, it would not.
It's not problem for the EU. However it is for Johnson. Especialy since he also sent a 3rd letter. The courts had made it crystal clear that sending subsequent letters that are saying the opposite of the official request is illegal. So one way or another he broke the law and will be punished...but he didn't satisfy anyone. If he wanted to become a criminal why not send nothing at all so you can become a "symbol" of the stupid?
Bwahaha! What are they going to do? Arrest him and make a martyr out of him? He would become the biggest political hero the UK has seen since Winston Churchill. Johnson will become a legend if any of these leftist punks tried to lay hands on him. He would be a political giant after that. They would never stop regretting it. If they are going to do anything like what you are implying, let them do it. The time for bluffing is over. They are going to have to do it. But will they? I will believe it when I see it.
