Greinke went 8-1 as an Astro. Greinke had a 3.02 ERA which would have been good enough for third in the AL had he qualified. Greinke had a WHIP of 1.09 which wound have been good enough for fifth. He certainly sucked today, but he was very good over his two months of starts here.

This is about long-term flexibility. Prospects, and concerns about Greinke past this season, his $$$, and whether it keeps us from resigning Cole. Plus, I'm a fan of the JV/Cole/Wheeler style of pitching way more. But, of course you'll say, wins are wins, and I agree provided we get them.

...and they took him out in a 13-1 game bottom of the 9th and pinch hit Tyler Flowers.

So glad Aiken didn't accept the Astros offer. No Aiken, Nix, and we got Bregman.

Lawless: manager at Batavia in the NYPL
    Mills: bench coach in Cleveland
    Cooper: retired
    Porter: Nationals tv analyst
    DeFrancesco: AAA Syracuse Mets manager
Terry Collins: Mets special asst to the GM, Fox studio analyst
Hal Lanier: won 2016 Can-Am League championship with Ottawa, now retired
Jimy Williams: retired, 2 sons are minor league managers

Speaking of Porter, came across this intriguing article: https://theshadowleague.com/its-time-for-bo-porter-to-get-his-second-shot/

Mills, man what a f**ked up situation he walked into here. Decades working his way up the coaching ladder to finally get a job only for the franchise to drop the nuke on it and be sold to new management. Never had a chance and I don't think he'll get another look.

Porter just wasn't any good, or at least wasn't willing to fully play ball. The Astros hired him to be AJ Hinch, and if he had done a better job of staying in line with the front office he may very well still be the manager. It's kind of a dumb article because nobody ever argued that Porter was responsible for the losing, Luhnow openly admitted such after firing him.

With Porter... eh... that's all. Even not considering the JD Martinez situation...

Him calling out and embarrassing Martinez was the last draw for me, especially considering Altuve did the exact same thing a week or so later and nothing was said.

Maybe I'm late to this but when did Aubrey Huff go off the deep end? Or has he always been there?

SS Jon Villar was put on outright waivers by the Orioles today. He will be a free agent if he is not claimed. His projected $10.4M salary was the reason for Baltimore not wanting him (and not being able to find a trade partner).

Santana could be a great add as a low cost DH for those looking. Need to keep the glove out of his hands.
