Eliud Kipchoge expects optimal conditions in Vienna on Saturday for his attempt at cracking the two-hour marathon.

    Running is for proles.

What's the record for driving the marathon in a mobility scooter?

Look at this dude........ he is 30 years old in this picture.

    Guy looks 75 years old.

Very talented runner though, he was dominant in shorter distances as well.

The marathon is such a hard thing to predict time wise.

I watched the video OP posted and thought wow that dude must be getting better with age. Thought he was mid-forties.

Long distance running is truly **** on bodies.

Considering he only missed the 2 hour mark by 1.5 minutes in a real marathon race, he has a pretty good shot on a completely flat course with pacers.

Always had this silly notion that marathon running is more about stamina than speed, but looking at that video.... Holy ****, that's some crazy pace they need to maintain for 2-hours straight.

This is like a full out sprint for 26 miles for a normal human.

He did it. Arguably the greatest athletic achievement of all time.

It's unbelievable what humans can do and shows just how different our capabilities are.

I am happy if I can run two miles @ 6 mph.
This guy just ran 26 at 13 mph.

fwiw: they aren’t counting this as a world record, because it wasn’t an official race.

But Kipchoge owns the WR, so sure he doesn’t care.

I can't even fathom it. I wonder if he would be even faster if he smoked out first.

Reminds me of Rocky running down that road to the library (or whatever building it is) and then up the steps. But, Rocky runs that hard for 26 miles.
