J.R. Richard will throw out the first pitch to Gerrit Cole before Game 1 of the ALCS tomorrow at Minute Maid Park.

Jose Lima, Jr. will throw out the ceremonial first pitch to Mike Hampton before Game 2 of the ALCS at Minute Maid Park on Sunday.

Hampton and Jose Lima were the last pair of Astros teammates to win 20 games before Gerrit Cole and Justin Verlander this season

So that the games aren’t on at the same time.

They get a day game tomorrow, we get a day game Tuesday, they get a day game Wednesday (if necessary), we get a day game next Saturday (their Game 7 takes precedence, if played)

Seems equitable and sensible to me.

Can't just let me be annoyed with the situation?

Hinch rarely sends a guy unless the pitcher is really slow to the plate and it's a high probability the guy can get the SB. With the guys we have at the plate just about every AB, it's much more likely we don't attempt a SB unless there are 2 outs and we are in dire need of 1 run. All this to say, the situational need for Straw and a SB is very low, especially considering hardly anyone is going to get pulled for him. Straw will have more value when/if we make it to the WS and he plays in a NL park.

Hinch said Peacock is highly unlikely to make the roster.

IMO, Straw gets left off the ALCS roster. Miley and Rondon stay put. Abreu is added. The only other pitcher I think is a consideration is Devo, and if its Rondon vs. Devo, we likely ride with Rondon. Miley will be needed for depth since he is able to provide multiple innings. Devo is added over Abreu if Hinch thinks the matchups may be preferable.

Oh man... when did he say that about Peacock? I thought he said earlier in the day Peacock was going to make the team but hadn’t talked to the players yet.
    guess still not healthy.

Can anyone explain the 1 minute difference in start times. 7:07 in Houston, but it had to be 7:08 in NY. What could possible happen in that one minute.

Sanchez has a cannon for an arm. I wouldn't try to steal with him behind the plate (it's like Correa playing catcher).

    My guess:

    Machete, Chirinos
    Yuli, Altuve, Correa, Bregman, Diaz
Springer, Brantley, Reddick, Jake, Tucker, Straw

    JV, Cole, Greinke, Urquidy
    Osuna, Harris, Pressly
    Peacock, James, Miley, Smith, Abreu

Part of me thinks we’ll carry 13 arms and choose between Tucker or Straw. Maybe Rondon or Devo...I’m not ecstatic about the end of our bullpen, but who knows. I could see Hinch favoring Smith/Rondon/Devo over Tucker as vets, and Straw fits a better niche/compliment right now.

Don't worry. That delay will be over in a New York minute.

He is slow getting up with poor mechanics. A few years ago he was very good throwing guys out but he is below average overall.

I’ll say this for him, there are maybe 2-3 guys in baseball that have more power than him. His issue is consistent contact.
