Astros pitching we don't trust right now. Not saying they aren't solid pitchers....we just don't trust them... 1. Zack Greinke: Box of Chocolates, never know what you will get. 2. Urquidy: Too young and never pitched in the playoffs. Unknown how he will respond. 3. Pressly: The knee injury could hurt his leg strength through the playoffs. 4. Josh James: When on he is solid.... sometimes though he can't find the plate. 5. Rondon: Never has been consistent enough to get the "Trust" stamp of approval. 6. Osuna: Yet another arm in the bullpen that is hard to trust when on the mound. Verlander, Cole, Harris.... they get the "Trust" stamp of approval. Wade Miley: We do trust him, but we trust he will suck... that's not what we are looking for.
Sure, that is a classic consideration, but he knows Miley's a problem, and Hinch rarely plays the sidedness matchups. It was an experiment, I think. "I'll see if Miley can be effective left-on-left. If not, I'm not making Hector throw any more pitches, because who knows what's going to happen tomorrow?"
This series is a toss-up at this point. Felt good coming into this game that we could put them out of their misery. Now, the momentum has shifted. Not sure what's going to happen.
CFM is probably done. Now our guys need to put up productive at bats and wear out their own, regardless of the score.
Hope the Astros don't just roll over and be a doormat today. Pressure is still on the Rays. Don't let them have a free and easy win.
It sucks timing wise but an 0-11 stretch isn’t highly uncommon for great players at any particular point. It’s not like playoff baseball is overwhelming for him. That’s part of what makes the playoffs unpredictable.
what? hinch plays the sidedness matchups all the time. miley was always going to come in if rondon let the previous batter get on base. he went into that expecting miley to get the lefty out
They did what they had to do in holding serve at home. But Game 3 was always key because Game 4 is a complete unknown. And with the Astros offense tanking the way they are, I give the Rays a pretty good shot at evening this series tomorrow.
No way, you don’t concede an 8-1 game and you certainly want to wear out their relievers with quality at bats to have a cumulative effect on the series.
