I was about 11 or 12 when I saw it but no movie to this day made me bawl like Bill with Mickey Rooney.

This is the first I thought of when seeing the thread. The longer cut is pretty different in the latter half and also great. That Morricone score is a large part of what does it.

    Leon
    Finding Nemo
Also, I've never laughed so hard I cried as I did the time I saw the first 30mins of Super Troopers in the movie theatre. I might have been high then.

I'll cry whenever Brendan Gleeson dies in a movie. Love that guy.

Have you been to Bruges? It's quite something. I went there in 1971 during the Spring in the off-season, flowers everywhere, and again in 1982 with my significant other in the middle of June, where we watched the match between Belgium and Argentina during the first round of the World Cup, in a pub on one of the canals. That was wild! It was packed with locals and they went nuts when Belgium scored, and went on to win 1-0. It was quite an upset against favored Argentina.

As for the film, In Bruges, not only was Gleeson superb (a wonderful actor), I think it was also some of Colin Farrell's best work. Film noir, set in a most unlikely place. Truly a film that grabbed your emotions on several levels.

It is, especially during the off-season. Mid-June was not too crowded, but that was in 1982. We haven't been back since, but would love to some day. Spring is a great time to see the place. There's a riot of flowers everywhere. It's a Flemish town, not far from the Netherlands, but definitely not Dutch.

I actually watched this for the first time about two weeks ago. What a damn good movie and YES Gleeson was incredible.

I also noticed that the lady who ran the hotel looked familiar. Sure enough I looked up the credits and it's Thekla Reuten who was in the George Clooney movie "The American". She was the lady hit man (or hit woman).

I know "Brian's Song" was already mentioned. Here's the scene that really got to me.

She's excellent in Your Highness if you haven't seen that. It's a comedy that's not much of a story, but has plenty of funny scenes in it. I've probably seen it 25 times.

Lots of movies will make me cry, but only if I'm alone. Any movie with the ultimate sacrifice does it for me for sure. So like Armageddon, Gran Torino, Defiance, Rogue One.
