Sorry to hear this. Surprised he was 75 years old. Didn't think he was that old. Talented guy, that's for sure.
Awesome band, large part of my youth. Fun fact: he was not the lead singer on several of their initial hits. This, however, is one of my earliest MTV jam memories:
Linda Ronstadt's still alive, right? Or...you know, for your childhood demographic, Sugar Ray's not dead yet, is he/them?
Huh, cool. I didn't know that part. As a kid I just always assumed that Ocasek was the singer the whole time. I didn't know who Ben Orr was.
Damn. I didn’t even really start getting into the Cars until the 2000s, but they quickly became one of my most beloved bands. Just was listening to the self titled album on shuffle yesterday in the car. RIP
You mean "more game" as in out-kicking the coverage? Yep. And "Is there another" ... probably not. Ringo, Tommy Lee, Billy Joel??, and JayZ probably shouldn't be included as their game didn't shock me as much (as in, not so surprising they can land Barbara Bach, Heather/Pam, Christie (sigh) and Beyonce.) btw: 18yr old Paulina is in the 1st OP video, which is when Ric met her. Apparently, they separated just last year.
Of course that's what I was talking about: goofy-looking uber-talented musician ends up with supermodel level lady. And honestly, are there any others?
Damn. Yes, out-kicking his coverage indeed. Loved Dangerous Type in particular. Dude did a lot of interesting post-Cars production work as well.
