I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is Greinke threw 5 scoreless frames. The bad news is that in the other frame he gave up 4 runs. Honestly he pitched well enough to win most the time with this Astros team. He gave up all his runs with two outs and battled back after a terrible inning.
Look at bleacher report they already have springer done ! It says the 90-49 Astros it’s from today. I’m telling you this is a terrible article ! Media conspiracy
Ok! Then give me yours ! Lol ! But look at the piece of the article I just posted ! It’s all over the place. It says Springer is out for a while with Jake taking his place and it said it was a hammy
790 postgame said Springer seemed cognizant -- "no memory loss and was coherent". Didnt specifically say whether hamstring or concussion, but sounds concussion-esque. ETA- Radio now says "concussion", plus George, "had no dizziness or loss of balance". Not sure if context was *after* he was off the field.
I see he gave up 8 hits. So would you say Greinke is living up to your expectations? Just curious because I’m ecstatic.
No I expected him to be a little better. He doesn’t look comfortable out there and control is off a little. It is still a small sample though. For example, he was close to going 6 scoreless tonight. Had he had better luck earlier in the inning, everyone would be praising him.
He was in the zone way too much, gave up too much hard contact and baserunners but worked through it. 6 of their 8 batters were LH and they hit him hard, again. Unable to close out the inning and gave up 2-out runs, again. He made one horrible pitch to Thames or else it's (theoretically) a 2-1 game.
I do like his honesty. He was definitely out there at the plate and on the basepaths to make things happen, and some it of it might have been a little selfish. Not gonna criticize the guy, especially after most of the real batters in the lineup failed to show up. I mean, the more Greinke I see, the more I see a guy that really likes playing baseball. What a concept.
Definitely getting a Kazmir in 2015 vibe from Greinke thus far. Sometimes trades energize/reinvigorate a player (Verlander)... and sometimes they take a lot out of you. Still plenty of time for him to hone his control again before the playoffs, unless he's hiding an undisclosed injury.
Yep. Greinke seems fine to me. He's changing leagues for the first time in 9 years. It's only been 4 starts. Consider me not concerned about the #3 starter being better than the rest of the staff. I didn't expect (and still don't) a Verlander/Cole in the 3 spot, but I do expect him to meet Miley's effectiveness at a minimum by the time the playoffs roll around.
