Dolphins insider who reportedly broke Flores hiring says Dolphins are making a strong push.

    Says Tunsil is available.

That would be a hell of a grab for Clowney.

Tunsil was held out of their preseason game as well. Could be something. Or nothing.

    https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/barry-jackson/article234342267.html

The Dolphins, in the first year of a rebuild, have made several veteran players available in trade discussions, but Laremy Tunsil apparently isn’t one of them, based on what the Dolphins have conveyed to the Tunsil camp.

Amid published reports that Tunsil has been made available in trade discussions, the Dolphins assured the Tunsil camp that there is no truth to that, according to a league source with direct knowledge.

Teams have inquired about Tunsil, believing the Dolphins are willing to trade established veteran players for draft picks. The Dolphins have fielded those calls but in Tunsil’s case, haven’t acted on them to this point.

The Miami Herald received a call early last week, from a credible source, that Tunsil’s name had come up in trade discussions, but it was not indicated who had initiated those calls, and The Herald did not report it at the time.

Longtime NFL draft analyst Tony Pauline, through a Twitter account and web site called the Pro Football Network, reported Saturday that Tunsil has been dangled around the league in trade talks.

Meanwhile, eyebrows were raised when Tunsil was a healthy scratch for the past two preseason games.

Tunsil, selected 13th overall in the 2017 draft, has started every game he has played in his first three seasons - missing four due to injury - and has established himself as one of the NFL’s best young left tackles, a premium position.

Tunsil, 25, is under contract for this season at $2.1 million in the final year of his four-year rookie deal, and the Dolphins exercised his 2020 option for $10.3 million, which is non-guaranteed but assuredly will be exercised by Miami unless that’s replaced by a longterm contract.

The Dolphins broached a contract extension with Tunsil’s camp earlier this summer and the sides had discussions but tabled further talks until next offseason.

If the Dolphins and Tunsil cannot agree to a deal beyond 2020, Miami always has the right to use the franchise tag to keep him.

Tunsil and a third for Clowney is perfect. Do it.

Gives the dolphins a young defensive piece to build around once they get their qb in the draft.

Of course you could argue they'd want to keep their young franchise LT to protect said quarterback...

A player being held out of a preseason game means nothing. In fact it's becoming the norm.

How Clowney is handling this tells you all you need to know about him. He's quiet not making any rumblings in the media unlike those that go through the process do. Yet it's BOB"s side that leaks things.
    so 24 hours?

If we're looking for a WR, I'm guessing Stills.

Clowney for Stills and a 3rd? I'm a bit underwhelmed by that, but our offense would be pretty good. Watson would probably throw for 4,000 and 45+ if everyone stayed healthy.

Fuller walked off the practice field the other day. BoB cited load management but who knows. I’d rather have a LT but if something is going on with Fuller, there might be something there.

Also, in Obrien's mind (our GM), we also have a capable LT. Roderick Johnson has shown flashes, and Tytus is our LT of the future. Do we want to trade for a LT and limit Howard and Scharping to RT and guard?

I'm fine with that if we can find a LT good enough, but I'm also okay with trading Clowney for another offensive weapon.

Fuller can't stay healthy. Keke can't stay healthy. When they are, our offense is explosive as any in the league. If we got a durable number two, our offense would be as lethal as anyone in the league when healthy. When Fuller and Keke were missing their usual 8-10 games a year, we would still be a top ten offense.

I think the line of thinking may be that test are going to score on us no matter what we do. We can't seem to hold top flight offenses down. Maybe obrienO is realizing he just needs to outscore everyone and not worry about the defense first mentality.

I'm excited by it, as long as we get good value.

    Hopkins
    Fuller
    Keke
Duke Johnson (as good a receiving back as there is)
    Akins
    Jordan Thomas
    Kenny Stills?

    That's some good firepower.
