The Clippers aint winning 63 games if Kawhi only plays in 65. If they win 52 that's an accomplishment if he sits out 20ish games.

Denver aint winning 65 period , they are a solid team but …. they aint leaps and bounds ahead of the league , Very few teams have ever won 65. They will be lucky to approach 60 with the number of strong teams in the West this year.

    GSW …. over under 42.

Spurs …. hard to see them winning 45 in this conference , Pop or no Pop , they don't have a whole lotta talent.

What if you can somehow use the metrics Morey used for the refs in the teams protest to the league last year and integrated them with RPM to get a more accurate metric? Adjusted for each team and the way they call each player regular season and playoffs?

You don't know who the refs are until the day of the game or maybe a day ahead …. hard to factor that into the cpu

How does the #1 seed in the entire league have 53 wins?

No clearly dominant team …. and entirely possible in this shook up NBA where no teams seems to be head and shoulders above the rest and some teams will rest stars a significant number of games.

According to Basketball Reference - The last time the league didn't have at least 1 60+ win team was 78-79 the Washington Bullets led the league with 54 wins. (outside of years where they played less than 82 games due to work stoppages).

No team won more than 59 games in a single season between 75-76 thru 78-79.

I'm sure morey's got a team that can find a trend depending on matchups and ratings. Houston has been a contender for several years with a history of terrible officiating against them... non-calls that is... Durant's out of bounds play was just blatant.

There's been a lot of blatantly bad calls over the past few years …. and they do track individual refs but its impossible to factor those in when they are totally random.

I really wonder how the officiating will be for them this year - Minus CP3 always being in the face of the officials and with the league changing so much in general. What teams / players will see the most favorable officiating ?

You expect the Lakers to get more than their share of calls with LeB!tch and AD ….

What about the Clippers ? Those guys (PG13 & Kawhi) really aren't reliant upon a lot of calls …. but if they get them its helpful.

Then you have Giannis …. will they treat him like an MVP or give him the Harden treatment ?

You mean the ref treatment that had Harden shoot 20% more free throws than anyone else in the league?

So based on what your coworkers said about the playoffs youre predicting nugs will be leading the league with 65 REGULAR season wins and Clippers with load mgmt Kawhi 2nd with 63 REGULAR season wins while the rockets a distant 3rd with 55 REGULAR season wins? Genius!

you know more FGAs = more FTAs right?

    Giannis 686 FTAs / 1247 FGAs = 55% FTA to FGA rate
    Embiid 649 FTAs / 1199 FGAs = 54% FTA to FGA rate
    Harden 858 FTAs / 1909 FGAs = 45% FTA to FGA rate

and LOL if you think NBA and the refs are giving harden and the rockets favorable treatment you an idiot for sure

You cant just blatantly compare the number of free throws without context. Harden usage rate far exceeds any other superstar. He also drives more than any player in the league. He should shoot exponentially more free throws just cuz he uses more possessions.

He should shoot as many free throws as an entire team because he is our entire offense.

LOL do you actually believe Harden uses "exponentially more" possessions than other stars? Or that he is literally your entire offense? Cool story.

I didn't say favorable, did I? But implicitly complaining about unfair treatment when your guy was at the FT line WAY more than anyone else is ridiculous. And you realize bigs usually shoot more FTs than guards because they're always banging inside, right?

Probably the same guy who also shot 25% more FTs than anyone else? What a coincidence, huh?
