I am tired of preening, suntanned reality show "billionaires."

I’m far too lazy and not nearly greedy enough to be a billionaire. By the time I got to 50 million I’d cash out and just chill. Enjoy life. That’s more than enough for me.

Edit- I’m not smart enough or lucky enough either. Haha

Apology accepted. Now if you could start eating more at Landry’s that’d be great.

    I've been around the man.

I don't really need to read a book from him. The reason for his success is kind of obvious. He is ruthless, is incredibly driven and was in the right place at the right time. I am not taking anything away from him, he is an incredibly successful mogul. However he isn't the Pope or the Dalai Lama where he can offer some wonderful perspective on life. He isn't a brilliant artist or scientist or social builder.

It's not luck or being at the 'right place'. It's decisiveness; the ability to make fast educated decisions and execute where 99.9% of other people would waffle and let the opportunity pass.

I'm not interested in some ghost-written-drivel by a boisterous billionaire who is completely full of piss.

Credit where credit is due. Becoming a billionaire is not about luck (other than those who inherit it).

So we may not like him or always agree with him but I do respect his business acumen.

I read a certain reality game show host's book years ago, The Art of the Deal or something (which was of course ghost written), and I have to admit there was a useful nugget about real estate that I haven't forgotten, so I may read Tilman's book. But only if I can check it out at the library.

More reason to read it, fortunately or unfortunately for us he will be the owner for some time.

No, being in the right place is certainly part of the equation. He was born into a family that had restaurant experience and afforded him the opportunity to take chances that others would not. Having the balls "to do it" is a large part of it as well, but lets not act like his background didn't play a part as well.

Running a restaurant is one thing

But running a hospitality empire which consists of bunch of chains of restaurants and hotels is another

Add successfully bidding aquiring and running a pro sports franchise to his resume

I don't think anyone is saying otherwise.

He is an incredibly successful businessman.
