Which guy will land on a new team first? Both have had interviews in the past week stating that they've changed and would accept a lesser role.
They won’t sacrifice *enough* to actually help a contender and they are too historic/egotistical/famous to eat humble pie and mentor young guys on a bad team. I agree with J.R., its over.
Dwight still has a skillset that could help a team. Blocks, rebounds, he just has to commit to that. Melo is a volume scorer. Teams that have these don't need another and teams that don't have them like the Spurs don't want them.
For years they've said they're willing to sacrifice. I don't think they'll change. I do think someone will stupidly sign Howard. Melo is just a joke, he is still not in good enough shape right now. He won't even do the basic stuff. Just does YMCA drills all summer and posts videos about it.
If these two really have intentions on changing (both their game and their commitment to winning), then they'll be happy with signing 1 year vet minimums on any team, just to remind everyone what they can do. Like a Demarcus Cousins situation. With that said, I don't think either player would be willing to do so because of ego.
This Dwight is still a really effective big man, he just has to accept that he isn't getting any touches in the post. He doesn't have to actually change anything about his game to be useful. It's strictly mindset. Carmelo will have to do things he's never done, and frankly may not be capable of doing if he wants a place in the league.
Carmelo Anthony has a great body type to be so versatile as a defender, a great passer, rebounder, be unselfish. But he chose to rely only on his scoring only, that's it. His lack of fitness, the way players are everyone is chiseled with muscle. Carmelo doesn't work on his strength and be leaner. No Carmelo Anthony you never would've won a Championship with Dwyane Wade and LeBron James in Miami. Chris Bosh was so huge in the Playoffs as stretch Center shooting his 3s, Rebounding, Shot Blocking. In the Playoffs you need all around talent, not a one dimensional scorer in Carmelo Anthony.
Neither. End of an era. The guys drafted in the 2000s are slowly but surely fading away. Damn, I feel old
Dwight. I think the Clippers are in play. Its weird that the Clippers and Howard have been linked in a couple of rumors as Dwight as shown interest and the Clippers still have a need for another big and havent addressed it. Why havent the Clippers signed a Pat Patterson, Joakim Noah, or Nene. Why havent they added a 14th player to their roster. I think they're waiting for the Dwight Howard Memphis buyout.
