The real question is, should Trump be imprisoned once he is safely out of power? His crimes are extensive and sets a dangerous precedent moving forward.

I definitely would be facing a prison sentence if he wasn't the President.

    1. Trump didn't just want to and think about firing Mueller. He ordered McGahn to do it. Taking action, even a failed action, is different from wanting or considering something.

    2. He could have done it directly, but chose to do it through somebody else. Using somebody else would allow him to obscure the reasons and employ a third-party validator to make the decision seem more legitimate. It isn't much different from how he asked Rosenstein to write up the justification for firing Comey and then came back to Rosenstein's recommendation repeatedly even after blowing his own cover.

    3. Trump said Mueller and Comey were good friends and other Republicans have parroted it. Mueller and Comey themselves say they know each other professionally and aren't all that close. Confirmation bias leads Trumpers to insist they are friends and Never Trumpers to insist they aren't. I guess i'd want to hear, if Comey needed a ride to the airport, would Mueller drive him? If Mueller was moving, would Comey help him move? If Mueller's daughter wanted to do a sleep-over with Comey's daughter, but Mrs. Comey was out of town, would he trust Comey to be the only adult in the house?

    4. That Mueller interviewed for Comey's job is another thing that Trumper's take on face value because Trump said it. While I'd say the deep friendship between Comey and Mueller is probably bs, this is certainly bs. Mueller is retired. He'd already had the job 2 years too long. Aside from being in no condition to take another 10-year job, it would have looked very Hoover-esque in a bad way to even ask for another stint. Trump told a bald-faced lie and you predictably accepted it as true.

    5. The belief that Mueller was conflicted therefore isn't rightful. Trump wanted to stop the investigation, so he made up a reason to fire Mueller -- he's conflicted -- and then made up the evidence of the conflict -- that he was mad at Trump because Comey was his friend and that he was spurned for a job. It's kinda obvious.

This ruling allows trump to be tried in states as well as federal (no double jeopardy protection).

The left is so obsessed with criminalizing any political opposition that they will dispense with protections against double jeopardy.

The citizens of NY are so much better off now that they can be tried for the same crime twice.

Lol, the "left"??? This passed 7 to 2, and one of the two was "left" Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg. And Alito wrote the decision. And Thomas voted with the majority. Yea, the "left"...

I was going to say.. didn’t RGB dissent here?

Meanwhile.... guess whose getting special treatment? Shocker.

Also the crimes he’s being charged with by NY state are completely different crimes FYI commodore.

I know he’s assuming “the left” wants to have SCOTUS decisions be made just for Paul Manaforts case but I can at least say for myself that I don’t care about Paul Manafort. It would shock no one if Trump pardons Manafort tomorrow and rehires him as his campaign chair for 2020. The Trump regime should just cut the bs and admit that criminality is cool as hell when it’s their team doing it. They’ve already said as much.

As for the double jeopardy rule... I actually support not being able to charge someone twice for the same crime. But I also support the power of the state to have their own judicial independence.

When the Dems are back in power you are going to be put in a FEMA camp so fast it'll make your head spin.
