"Flawed roster" We were on the verge of a title the year before and the 2nd best team in the West this year. You guys act like we are the 8th seed with no upside.
I agree with you. We have the foundation with Harden but we have to develop some talent from within. You need to be the guy who drafted Parsons, not the guy who signed him as a free agent. We did that, but haven't had a good discovery since (depending upon how you feel about Capela). That's what is holding us back. We have to keep drafting and developing players. You can't stop. It's an eternal process. When they get too expensive you let them walk and bring up the next young guy, or trade them for future assets, or keep them and let someone else walk. Everyone and their Mom can see that AD would be a great pickup. Identifying current superstars is freaking easy. A great GM is the one who can find the unpolished gem and make it into a jewel everyone wants. The Rockets are failing at drafting and developing and it is going to catch up to them like the old Astros. Eventually you have a bunch of old guys who are playing on bloated contracts. Like you said, we need to develop some youngsters.
Yes that was last year I'm talking about this year and beyond. We aren't a 8th seed with no upside we are a 4th seed with no upside. 3 teams in the West were better than us this year and each one of those teams are gonna improve as well with more assets at their disposal.
Is there are a star player we could target in a trade that no one is currently thinking or talking about? And I’m not talking about role players from the Celtics that have been rumored
Yep and another thing is how big of a mouth this front office has. It would be one thing if they moved in silence and we'd live with the results. But Tilman, Morey and Tad Brown can't keep their mouth shut. "We'll have our pick of FAs" "There are gonna be fireworks this offseason" Just shut up if you talkin bout it be about it.
well tucker and cp0 will both be 35 next playoffs. capela has likely peaked. and all we have to improve the roster is the MLE, which going by recent history may or may not even be used
I blame the new lottery system. All it did was give 2 crappy teams more incentive to fall into the lottery and get lucky instead of going for the 8th seed.
I think as Rockets fans we have to accept that we will be good, but not good enough to be looked as championship contenders. If we are lucky, we still have a chance to get to the promise land, but I am not holding my breath. I've accepted that we will have a good season, good enough for some of our fans to have hope again but ultimately I do believe we will fall short. I can live with it. I rather be competitive then rebuilding or being stuck in mediocrity. Rebuilding doesn't guarantee **** and being stuck being an 8th-10th seed is not all that great either.
