Yep. And he pissed on a line drive before that right at somebody. His hit expectancy was over 50% on vanity those AB’s and he instead took the collar. Long season, stuff evens out. But I like the approach I’ve seen from him so far.

I'd say "consistently" at the end of this post. In 2015 and 2017, he hit well enough to let his glove be productive.

Or Raffy Palmeiro winning one after playing only 28 games in the field...

1999 era baseball was so wack, I don't know who deserved it but 28 games what a joke.

I know, right? They didn't even have officials gambling on games. What the **** were they thinking?

I think he’s gotten worse as he has played everyday. Also who will you bench when Springer returns in favor of Jake?

He's already on the bench with Diaz back. It will likely be Kemp.

Ultimately, if healthy I expect the following 13 offensive players to be playing on our roster in July:

    Springer
    Altuve
    Bregman
    Gurriel
    Correa
    Reddick
    Brantley
    Diaz
    Chirinos
    Stassi
    Marisnick
    2 of Tucker, Alvarez, Straw

Kemp and White’s auditions are likely coming to a close. Jake and Diaz have earned their place.

Stassi will be here unless we trade for an upgrade.

Agree with all of this but I think Kemp stays, so one of Alvarez, Tucker, Straw plus Kemp.

I'm pretty weary of a guy striking out over 30% of the time and walking only 5%.

Two walks yesterday, which qualifies as a miracle. :D

But he reminds me of a baseball version of Gerald Green with defense. The oh don't swing at that, which sometimes results in a big play.

Why sorry Jake? Brantley has an OPS over 1 at DH. Springer has an OPS over 1 at DH. Reddick has an OPS over 1 at DH. Kemp has an OPS over 0.900 at DH (slacker). Hinch is addicted to playing OFs at DH, which gives Marisnick time to show off his defense.

I was speaking to the post suggesting we make Brantley DH most of the time so Jake could play more. Making Brantley a more or less full time DH is what I am against. Now, if you want to rotate the DH duty among several outfielders, then sure, that could work.

A good read on Jake: https://www.houstonchronicle.com/sp...sider-Jake-Marisnick-does-it-all-13896013.php

    I particularly liked this piece:

“This season, Marisnick is making contact more and missing far less. He significantly has improved his approach to fastballs. He cut down his whiff rate on them from 24 percent this time last year to 11 percent, according to Brooks Baseball. As a result, he is forcing pitchers into the heart of the zone and blistering their off-speed pitches.”
