Knicks trade Porzingis to Dallas for Dennis Smith Jr.

None of them fit the modern nba center role better than clint except davis and maybe embiid becuase he does so much of the old school stuff well. By that i mean.

-vertical spacing
-ability to set screens and catch and finish lobs
-switching out onto the perimenter (you need to if you want to defend the best nba players properly)
-rim runs (capela is probably the fastest sprinter out of everyone except maybe davis)
-defense
-rebounds
-blocks
-being strong enough to defend the low post and protect the rim/box out

You can argue i am nit picking but with all the rules against the old school post game, i do not value post offense nearly as much as any of this. Clint cant shoot, but center is the one spot where that is ok.

 

he only switched and backpedaled to "2 euro superstars" because he was forced to. there's been plenty of euros that have gone on and played competitively in the playoffs and even won ships. all of the game is too physical for euros posts were just borderline racists because that's all it was based on. No mention of any type of skillset, type of player, age, etc. Not to mention completely ignorant.

Mark Cuban won that trade. Pretty nice and young pairing the Mavs have now with Doncic and Porzingis.

 

I've always thought this. It's a combination of what both of you said - by the way most traditionally grade players, Capela probably isn't top 5 and doesn't 'carry' his team offensively. He just isn't as skilled as some of the top centers. But in terms of what the Rockets need, I don't think anybody fits the mold as well as Clint

 

Except anthony davis. He is clint on steroids, a cheat code if you want to call him that. Next to harden, they would be unstoppable and impossible to guard. No other two nba players can run a better pick and roll/pop.

Not to mention everything else they do in terms of defense and rebounding.

Yea, but that's my point. How many european superstars are there to make a team with 2 of them? There is reason why there aren't a lot. The NBA has different rules & the game is alot faster

 

Ehh not sure a lot of teams would have been able to provide that much expiring money, taken on that much long term money, give a draft pick and also give a young player like Smith.

I like the deal for Dallas more but it isn’t as lopsided as it appears.

I mean looking at the trade now it wasn’t that bad.

Knicks want young players and cap space.

They got rid of 2 large contracts, opened up 2 max slots, got a young player, 2 1st round picks, and have their own first.

Didn’t see stars running there to play with prigs, and he has a acl injury.

Luka is 19 on his rookie deal
Kristaps is gonna take his qualifying offer of $4.5 million. Lee, barnes and possibly hardaway jr come off the books after next season....they can sign a one year deal for a player like cousins or deandre next year and then possibly sign 1-2 max players the year after.

They have time to shed hardaways deal and you can bet they will try. Cuban has deep pockets, a smart coach and gm. It is never long before dallas is back in the picture.

 

Mavs got someone to help them out and took their 3 first round picks as Morey begs someone, anyone to take his 4 first round picks & unborn child to be named later. @DreamShook
