People are more willing to take a one time trip to see their team play in the SL. Plus, it's the summer! In Vegas! Not winter/fall. :D

That doesn't make good for consistent revenue though. Unless you're playing the teams like the Warriors, Lakers, Celtics, or Thunder every night.

Their NHL team is doing very well on attendance.
It's also noted that the arena in in the MIDDLE OF THE STRIP. Where it's extremely easy for fans to access.

Every year, I post this idea of mine regarding Vegas:

Right now, why don't they just allow each team to play 2 games in Vegas, one "Home" game and one "Away" game. The STHs for the "Home" team still get their seats to use (Roadtrip to Vegas) or to very easily resell. This would immediately fill Vegas with 60 games per year...yet not require any major OK from the league wrt an actual franchise being in Vegas.

Those tickets would be HOT on the strip ... about 2 games per week.

I hope they lose the Suns and the Coyotes, that's what they get for overpaying Ariza and stealing our Melton.

**** is ****ing INSANE. Threatens to move the team if the tax payers don't pay for upgrades to a stadium that HE makes money from. Are the tax payers reaping the rewards for these upgrades? No, **** sports owners, pay for your own god damned stadiums.

I realize that, I lived in Vegas and actually worked on the strip.

Perhaps the casual fan will get sloppy drunk and stumble into a basketball game but I bet it'd be more likely for them to stumble into that hockey arena to watch dudes slam each other into boards and a potential for a fist fight.

I still don't think your example is a good one for the expectations of an average crowd attendance. They're just not selling out every game with a bottom of the barrel lottery team year after year.

Las Vegas would be an epitome of sustainability over Phoenix. The traveling fans alone should keep teams afloat. Meanwhile, we have professional franchises in Sacramento and Jacksonville... The outskirt cities of Vegas such as Summerville and Henderson are great, plus no state tax, like TX, is a huge plus, especially for the athletes. I think you're confusing Las Vegas with Cleveland or something.

And you have seen how popular NBA Summer League has been. They will be fine with the casinos reserving seats for VIPs.

What's the average crowd attendance for the Rockets?

I went to a concert at T-Mobile back in April 2016. I believe it was the 2nd or 3rd show after it opened. It's really, really nice. But not better than the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento. I also don't believe it's on par with the Ammay Center in Orlando.

What's your point? Do you realize how popular the KINGS are in Sacramento? Several long sellout streaks, even while the team was quite bad. They just had over 50,000 attend the California Classic 3-Day Summer League this past July. For freaking Summer League!

Oh, and perhaps you might recall the city banding together to keep the team from relocating 5 years ago?

You can make fun of the KINGS organization for a lot of things over the years -- and rightfully so -- but the City of Sacramento and their fans have always supported that franchise like no other.
