As of today, 11 of the 32 current NFL Starting Quarterbacks were Quarterbacks for Texas High Schools. Thats 34% of Starting NFL Quarterbacks.

Although some of these guys are starting because of injuries to their teams regular starter, it's still pretty impressive for one state.

Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints - Austin Westlake High School
Pat Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs - Whitehouse High School
Matt Stafford, Detroit Lions - Highland Park High School
Colt McCoy, Washington Redskins - Tuscola Jim Ned High School
Baker Mayfield, Cleveland Browns - Lake Travis High School
Ryan Tannehill, Miami Dolphins - Big Spring High School
Case Keenum, Denver Broncos - Abilene Wyllie High School
Andrew Luck, Indianapolis Colts - Houston Stratford High School
Derek Carr, Okland Raiders - Clements High School
Josh McCown, New York Jets - Jacksonville High School
Chase Daniel, Chicago Bears - Southlake Carroll High School

And with only a couple of exceptions, none were that highly regarded or heavily recruited by the big schools.

Chase Daniel grew up wanting to go to Texas. It was his dream. When Texas didn't make an offer he was completely disappointed. Missouri made him and offer and he took it. Then when the QB that Texas wanted rescinded his commitment (I don't remember who) UT turned around and offered Daniel a scholarship. Too Late - Daniel didn't want to be their second choice and he didn't want to back out of his commitment so he went to Mizzou.

Nick Foles also went to Austin Westlake.

As did Sam Ehrlinger... though hard to see an NFL career (much less SB win and MVP) out of him.

It's the spread offenses (fully QB-centric) and the long standing 7v7 infrastructure. Texas was out way ahead on both of those fronts but the other states are catching up. Only of matter of time before you start to see numbers balance out.
