The Balls will shrivel up in that cold, Siberian winter.

How long till they get kidnapped by the Russian mafia and are held for ransom?

I know you're being sarcastic, but Siberia is by definition not in Europe and in Lithuania is not as cold as in Minnesota, for example.

Their coach doesn't speak english, there is no money for practices, the town looks very depressing and cold..you don't have to be a Ball not to make it there. I think many veterans would leave.
However with their kind of talent, no surprise that no respectable pro team would sign them. Even this team wouldn't if not for the publicity stunt.

It's a beautiful little place, if you are into nature. personally i'd love to live there.

in winter of course it's gloomy, as is most of Europe.

it's a year round resort (or to be exact the resort is few miles away across the river), but it's less busy in winter. also it's a resort more popular among older people.

my collegue who's around 60 y.o. spends his vacation there each March or April.

i imagine the Ball family will spend more of their time in Kaunas, which is a small lively city 20ish miles away.

surprising decision. i wonder what type of deal they got.

in general, info in the Givony tweet that players at that level get 500 a month max is nonsense. but Prienai is a small team.

maybe Balls got some sort of "attract sponsors and you get a cut" deal.

If I had to make a statement about my birth I would. I say thank you everyday to people who do their jobs.

I didn't know that one Ball was arrested for shoplifting. how stupid, when you have talent.

on that note, Lithuania has decent laws for shoplifters. as long as you steal under 150 euros (180ish dollars), the police / judge can't do much to you, just write you a fine. if you don't pay it, the government tries to take it from your bank account, your employer, etc.

the fine becomes invalid in 5 years, so if you don't keep your money in the bank, don't get a salary or get your salary under the table, then you don't really get punished at all.

if you go over 150, then the judge is allowed to choose a more serious punishment.

that's how most drug addicts here get money. as long as they don't go over 150, they can shop lift as often as they need. the only way for a drug addict to make more money is prostitution.
