I think you're right - but no one that screams "NY BIAS!" is being subtle enough to warrant greater insight, frankly. It's a lazy crutch that has no basis in reality.

There's no evidence of a Yankee getting preferential treatment. Not in MVP, Cy Young, RoY - hell, even the Hall of Fame voting.

Judge has the higher fWAR now actually.

Altuve will likely win it because that’s been the story line for a majority of the 2nd half. He’s also been in contention for the award over the last few seasons and will get rewarded for it this year. Judge is also deserving but he’ll make due with rookie of the year.

And here's the real Altuve MVP thread. Shut the other one down.

    Nice if Aaron slowed down.

    Jose likely hampered a while..

He needs 1 more hit for 200. I would be nice if he could get it, but judge is having a monster September. Bonds like.

If there was a true Yankee bias, you'd think Jeter would have finished in the top 5 more than 3 times in 20 years (1 2nd, 2 3rd).

Since I am the only one to mention NY negatively in the thread, I assume you are talking to me. I wasn't screaming bias (i said hype with no exclamation points) and I hope you are right. They get the press. I know you know the process better than me so if you trust the voters, I will not mention hype again and keep my fingers crossed.

They do; but that's tied to how fans process it. The vast majority of the voters for postseason awards are following a specific team and are unlikely to fall victim to external hype.

Judge winning MVP is more palatable to me than Westbrook winning it. I wouldn't agree with it, but I can understand why he could win. I still don't see MVP voters giving it to Judge on the whole though. Altuve has been more consistent all season long.

He is hitting .308 this month. He only has 5 singles. He has 6 doubles and 13 HR. That is remarkable.

I thought you kids went by WAR?

    WOPPR says it's 54.3% Altuve

Altuve is only up by .5 war. If Judge has a few more monster games he may be able to catch up.

I scrolled down to the comments section and my head exploded. Can we just go back to the 80’s when I’d read the back of my topps cards and just looked at .avg, hr, and rbi?

Trout didn’t play enough games to be MVP over Altuve and Judge. I wouldn’t be mad if Judge won but I’d really like Altuve to get it and I still think he will.

This feels like harden Westbrook all over again. Harden/Altuve deserve the award, but Media and monster end to season will give it to Judge/Westbrook

Altuve is going to be MVP. Judge is a one trick pony.

Altuve behind now in fWAR. Jose the better defender and baserunner but Judge's hot month really separating himself from Altuve with the bat.
