These yearly 500 year floods are getting old. I feel like its become a thing to watch the news show me rescues and videos of cars trapped on the same freeways every 6 months. What are we doing? Thoughts and prayers? Infrastructure overhaul? This is exhausting. Noticed the news teams are trying to look at this "positively" instead of being absolutely pissed like they should be.
CISD was closed so my daughter's pre-school was closed... NOTE: The school in this tweet is not part of CISD... it appears to be part of Houston ISD.
Global warming... Weather manipulation... Freak climate change... Not sure what we can reasonably expect the city to do if these types of storms are far from the norm. We can always leave the area if we don't like it.
I know... their (CISD: Conroe ISD) tweet came out early this AM. The tweet indicated that kids on school buses already would be kept at the school until they could be picked up by parents. My wife (preschool teacher) was able to stay home after messaging parents. CISD is pretty good about making decisions quickly and communicating the news out.
Yeah I agree but that video could have easily happened there as well. Kids where in school and being on buses is more dangerous. **** happens.
These storms are getting really lingery. They just kinda float over the city and dump. I know infrastructure is poor and we've over built but I feel like the weather is just different the last 10 years.
I am guessing there were complaints about "late decision" or "late notice" and kids being on buses, but hey, the storm came in pretty fast and pretty hard...
You just accept the conditions you can't change. Earthquakes in California, tornadoes in Kansas, Snowpocalypse in Cleveland. Be careful where you buy, be patient during the event, buy flood insurance, get a taller vehicle This is our reality
I wasn't questioning HISD... I posted the tweet because the picture of kids walking on benches above the flood water was interesting.
So what your saying is OP.... we should maybe evacuate more than just Katy? Honestly, between the ridiculous floods, what they are doing to home insurance rates, the summers scorching heat, the air pollution, the chemical factories blowing up every week, high crime, crazy traffic, and the oil industry likely taking a significant hit in the nex decade or two... Things aren't looking too good for the future of the Htine broskis.
Hey @biff17 looks like another day off. Seriously, I know these are not days off... my wife worked on art projects and other educational material for next week's classes...
