    Ujiri should have done it.

He was willing to bet everything for a year's rental of Kawhi, but not willing to trade Siakam + more for Westbrook and PG? That's crazy.

Westbrook / Kawhi / PG + scrubs = another Finals appearance, at least.

Even if Ujiri didn't think Westbrook fit the team, he should have done it if it convinced Kawhi to stay in Toronto.

Could have always traded Westbrook away at any point in time, for picks or salary relief or a cup of Tim Horton's coffee or whatever.

Obviously we don't know the details behind it, except that Siakam would be the centerpiece, but it's worth it to have your savior stay, have an MVP candidate come to your team, and have a really exciting former MVP walking triple-double on your team as well.

I'm baffled by why he didn't. Is he really going to try to rebuild around Pascal Siakam? He had a really great season last year but I don't believe he's a guy you can build a championship contender around.

Kudos to Presti for knowing when it’s time to blow it up. Wouldn’t be surprised if we are in a similar situation next season IF we continue to run into a brick wall in the 2nd or 3rd rounds. Hell, there was talk of it this year after taking the reigning Champs to 6.

Wonder if there’s any chance we can grab Grant from them? Assume it would come at the expense of taking a larger contract off their hands.

It wasn't just Siakam. Probably would have gutted the entire championship core. I'm guessing Siakam + Lowry + (FVV and/or Gasol and/or Ibaka) + picks + fillers.

But even still, you can probably get a lot of return when you flip Westbrook for something.

    Ujiri dun' goofed.

Smart GMs understand what Westbrook is.

On top of that, George would have been demanding a trade instantly. They would have been dysfunctional.

There’s much more to just Siakam and it’s not just Presti with an offer that Ujiri refused lol. Almost had him is bull too, this is just to create a story. And kudos to Masai not to throw away the future for Westbrook. That would’ve been a dysfunctional team waiting to happen.

You wouldn't make the trade to secure Kawhi AND get someone like Paul George? While Westbrook may be a bad basketball player, I'm sure there are plenty of teams willing to take him. As inefficient as he is, he still remains 3 years removed from winning an MVP and he's still a walking triple-double. His name alone would put asses in seats every night.

Besides, not every GM is created equal. Ujiri could have easily fleeced a team.

Also, you never know what might happen in a Westbrook / PG / Kawhi trio. If it works out, it works out. If it doesn't, Ujiri cuts bait on Westbrook. Can get picks or expirings...

...but the main point is, your team now retains Kawhi and has a Paul freakin' George. You take a short term loss (getting Westbrook) but get a long term benefit (Kawhi commits 4 years, and you have PG's contract until it expires).

I don't understand why everyone is so fixated on Westbrook. He wasn't the point of this trade / story.

The biggest thing was retaining Kawhi (possibly for 4 years) and also getting Paul George for the next 3 seasons. That's at least 3 years with 2 of the best defensive players in the game.

I also don't understand why everyone thinks Westbrook is this untouchable cancer. Teams will want him.

Supposedly he was, but let’s see if this story has legs first. WOJ is not that trustworthy and works for ESPN which stands for Exaggerated Stories Pawned Now.

We could blow it up like this with Harden but Morey's given James a free pass to rack up regular season accolades & essentially quit every postseason. Plus theres a portion of Rocket fans that DON'T EVEN CARE. So we'll keep getting this "run it back" crap every year but all in all Morey knows we ain't winning no ring a) with Harden only playing for stats and not to win championships. Also b) with this Moreyball offense solely geared towards helping James keeping his regular season numbers

The Rockets look horrible now because our style of play is selfish

Sounds like a piece Ujiri paid Woj to write to pacify angry Raptor fans.
Also Leonard gave the insurance to the Clippers that he will join them with George, but he didn't give it to his new bff Masai?

It looks to me that Masai just cooperated with Presti to rob the desperate Balmer of all his assets, so the Clippers won't have any venue of improvement and become a 3 superstar team.

The funniest thing is that while all this supposedly was going on, the Lakers were being hyped by everyone.

btw do you think that woj is on something? Cocaine?
He never sleeps and always is up there working. It's insane. How old is he even? 50? Not even 18 year olds could keep up with his schedule.
He even released 10 Dudley podcasts while breaking news.

He might have a team of interns or something, working under him. Don't necessarily need to be the actual person to tweet stuff out.

OKC was going to trade Westbrook? Isn't Westbrook the Mayor?
