when candidate Trump was campaigning for the office of POTUS, he strategically "tap danced" around the release of his tax returns

he first claimed that he will release his tax return, then modified it to "will released as soon as the audit is completed"
the election is over, why not release them ? his position is that the audit is still ongoing

why not his 2016 tax return, we know that it is not under audit?

His Unreleased Tax Returns Threaten Yet Another Campaign Promise

......a growing roster of more than a dozen Republican lawmakers now say Mr. Trump should release them.

“To the extent that the president has significant conflicts of interest on issues such as
    • taxation of the real estate industry and
    • elimination of the estate tax.
If he doesn’t release his returns, it is going to make it much more difficult to get tax reform done,”

Absent the release of his tax returns, lawmakers from both sides will be left wondering, will it be

    • a true tax reform for everyone or
    • a concerted effort to decrease Trump's taxes disguised as tax reform ?
As this question lingers, it is not far-fetched to say that Tax Reform may not be done this year.

President Trump can claim to be the president that broke the most promises and tell the most lies as well as spend most of the tax payer's money personally when he is done. It will be a hard record to break.

How is so-called President Trump going to "drain the swamp" when he is a walking, talking swamp himself?

Did anyone find that tax return yet? That's a hell of a long audit.

What’s in the tax returns that scares him so much?
According to Tim O’Brien, a financial journalist who has seen Trump’s taxes:

“Tim O’Brien, a financial journalist who has seen Trump’s tax returns but is under court order not to disclose details, said Trump’s main concerns are what kind of income he receives, what his philanthropic activities might have been, and whether he is compromised related to certain countries.

“This is something he is going to fight tooth and nail. It opens a vein,” O’Brien, who saw the tax returns as part of a lawsuit, said. “He’s the most financially conflicted president of the modern era. The tax returns are both emblematic of that and a potential road map of what his conflicts might look like.”

O’Brien said he was opposed vociferously by Trump at every turn when he sought to see what the real estate mogul was really worth.

“The first return we got from them was so redacted that it looked like a crossword puzzle,” O’Brien said. “Our lawyers ended up having to fight tooth and nail for them. He definitely didn’t want to go there.”

Basically, Trump is a lot less wealthy than he says he is, he gives a lot less that he says he does, and he’s entangled with a lot more foreign entities than he says he is.

Trump’s taxes won’t tell the whole story, but they will definitely shed some light on some of the decisions he’s made as POTUS… which is why every candidate in modern history has released their returns.

Why do you care so much about his tax return? Is a tax return a public record? More wasted energy to defame the guy and he knows that by not releasing it he makes all his enemies waste more time talking about something the general public largely isn't hungering for.

Why aren't you interested in what manner the President of the United States might be financially compromised by other countries? This is why Presidential candidates for like 40 years have released their tax returns. An an independent, surely you give a damn whether the President of the United States is being blackmailed by a foreign power. o_O

What is this, the third year of this attempted partisan attack on Trump's taxes? This might be the longest running conspiracy theory ever, even surpassing Russian collusion!

Remember when the Democrats actually focused on legislation to advance the country forward? Yeah, I don't either.

    GOOD DAY

I don't really care that much because it's all speculative BS. The only people who care are Trump haters because it's always something to complain about and try to put a black cloud over the guy.

How is his tax return going to show if he is being blackmailed. I am sure he reports all his blackmail money to the IRS.

What it will show is how much he doesn't pay, and I am sure he doesn't pay a lot and he probably off shores all his money. But since I don't care that much, I am OK without seeing it since it's his own record and not the public's. This is like the Birth Certificate for Barry. Another puffed up BS request for info to fire up the bases. The unknown is far more interesting than the truth regarding this one, I will bet.

Keeps his opposition busy with an easy win for him since it's just a damn tax return. If there was something wrong, the IRS would stick a microscope up his ass in search of more money. Even then though, not a public record.

No, it's not. It's not a public record.

The tax valuation on commercial real estate is a whole load of garbage, it will routinely be valued magnitudes lower than its market value (and thats without even looking at the effects of depreciation)
