supposedly, it's harder for them to get selected to umpire in the postseason if they have made a higher-than-average number of bad calls in the regular season.
Normally I don't like seeing Springer try to steal, but with Chirinos' elbow banged up, it may have made sense for Springer to try stealing second in the 9th so that he'd have a chance of scoring on a single. Also, McHugh was the more rested reliever so it's curious that Hinch went to Rondon for the 10th. McHugh could probably have pitched into the 12th if it had gone that long.
Thank God the Rockets held on, although CP3 tried his best to choke that away, this could've been a very bad sports night. Astros need to do some soul searching, pronto
2017 through 16 games: 11-5, 67 RS, 54 RA 2018 through 16 games: 10-6, 67 RS, 49 RA Probably not relevant, but... yeah
It's interesting how similar of a start they are having compared to last year, and yet I feel they are completely struggling right now and getting off to a worse start. I guess the minor downside to your team winning a championship is that you expect them to win every game, convincingly too. How dare they not go 162-0!
First 16 games.... 2017 - no JV or Cole 2018 - both 2017 also featured no Ohtani. Bullpen has began worse, and the offense has been gifted runs on fielding miscues. No major panic though. It's a long season, and we should be improved.
I wonder if it has anything to do with his incessant griping at the plate (often when he's in the wrong) and long vacations outside the batter's box...
Or it's just anecdotal evidence because posters who think that don't see every other player in the league as often as they see Marwin.
we're being targeted by the deep state umps under "weirdo banister's" command. and get that ugly batter's eye out of our mmp!
Are we still on this? Did you not see what they ended up doing for most of the year last year, along with the playoffs, at MMP? The offense will be fine (especially once they get consistency in the LF... ahem, Tucker). The starting pitching is already better than fine. If they can go 15+ wins every month (which they're on track to do this month), they're already primed for a 90+ win season without seemingly even trying or getting hot. Their biggest potential opponents/issues remain one more quality/reliable bullpen pitcher, and health.
