Indians are actually going to stop using Chief Wahoo in 2019. Curious to see what the come up with as a replacement.
That seems like an absurd amount of money for Hosmer, who has always been a pretty good-not-great player to me.
The Twins are upset that a catcher bunted for a hit during a one-hit shutout bid. The Twins were in a shift that conceded the bunt. My thoughts...oh poor babies. Did the mean ol' catcher bunt on you?
Didn't know they were upset. So dumb. I mean, the next 2 guys got on base as well and created a bases loaded situation 1 out situation for their 3-4 hitters (down 7). I don't know what their odds were at that moment, but I'm guessing they had a nontrivial shot at going to extras once the bases were loaded. 5%? 1%? Whatever it was--the bunt made it feasible.
Professionals should never get upset that the other team is trying to win. I remember the Astros blowing a 6 or 7 run lead in the 9th on a walk off HR by Brian Giles off Billy Wagner. Hell, remember us being helplessly behind the Twins last year on Memorial Day?
Dozier is really coming across as an idiot in this. They aren't even getting any local sympathy for their comments. Dozier tried to explain his rationale by saying that the Orioles weren't holding a baserunner in the top of the 9th and the Twins didn't try to steal, so the Orioles shouldn't bunt against the shift. Berrios said (about the bunt), "that's not baseball". Many would argue that extreme shifts are "not baseball". Sisco's job was to get on base and try to fuel a rally. Someone should have asked Dozier...."why were y'all shifting in the 9th of a 7-0 game?". Pretty sure his answer would have been along the lines of "playing the percentages to keep him off base". He is doubling down rather than just shutting up.
