If Tony Allen deserves getting his jersey retired, the Rockets need to have a golden bust made of Shane Battier's glorious bald head outside of Toyota Center.

Tony is a 6x all defensive team player. Battier has 2 all defensive teams. The gng era was far more successful than shane and pau's teams.

It's so weird he didn't make any defensive team during his first 6 years as a Celtic from age 23-28, but gets traded at age 29, and all of a sudden *bam*, he gets 6 in a row from Age 29 to Age 35. I always thought something was fishy with that, and Battier was just as important to defenses.

Also, Memphis drafted Battier. That means something to me, at least. I like the fact Houston only retires players who they drafted, except for Drexler, but he was Phi Slamma Jamma with Akeem ... so that means a lot.

Young Zbo was a malcontent and was one of the prime members in the jailblazer era.

Even in his prime in memphis zbo was overrated af, gasol covered up for him multiple times.

I'm pretty sure we are retiring a certain player's number on our current team that we didn't draft. It may be even two players if we win a championship.

Wow, I like Tony Allen and Zach Randolph, but the idea of retiring four jerseys (because obviously Gasol and Conley are more accomplished than either and will get theirs down the road) from a grouping that won a single second-round series really strains credulity.

I am a retired jerseys snob so I shouldn't be taken too seriously, but reserving that many numbers for an average playoff team signals to me that you don't expect to ever win much more than an average playoff team.

Meaning what exactly? Surely this statistic doesn't define who was the better defender.

(Not to mention, one could drill the corner three)

Grizzles would actually be good with a core of Conley-Star SF(PG, Butler, ect)-Gasol

Grizzlies about to trade or waive Baldwin?
    I don't get it.
He may not be good but you have to give him more than a single year.

Because the grizzlies do things ass backwards is why.
I begged the grizzlies to draft patrick mccaw. I mean begged them.
Also, nobody wanted the grizzlies to waive troy Williams either, but now the rockets can enjoy his development.

Memphis really really needs to blow it all up and tank.

You can probably get 2 1sts for Marc or young talent and another 2 for Conley or young talent. Suck for 2 years until portions expires and get back after it when the warriors and other dominate teams are starting to fade.

    For instance:

Conley, zagorac (scrub filler) to Denver.
    Wilson chandler to Cleveland
Faried, mudiay, shump, Denver 1st and Cleveland 1st to Memphis

    Marc, Harrison(scrub filler) to Milwaukee
Monroe, Jabari(maybe thon), 1st to Memphis

So you lose Conley and gasol but add mudiay and Jabari who are young with upside but obvious risk for both. Better flexibility and less salary with Monroe (expiring) shump and faried on shorter deals for less per. While gaining 3 1sts(albeit later picks) and your own improved high lottery pick.

Having watched both, Tony was definitely a better defender.

I don't know about that. Battier could defend 3-4 positions and was fantastic at HELP defense. Considerably better than Tony, even if Tony has the edge on ball.
