    Agreed. Roughly half the people think they're smarter than the average person? That doesn't seem ridiculous to me. If it were 70% or higher, then you might have a story.

    70% of the population falls in the 90-110 IQ range. We are not talking about the median, but the average.

    It's depend on how the poll is conducted, if for instance the poll said : how confidante are you, the result might be close to 55% of the population feel that way.

    "Possibly 50% of people think they're smarter than average" isn't much of a headline.

    Hence they went with the sensationalistic one.

    Too bad intelligence isn't measured on a linear scale.

    But for the sake of the article, Americans are pretty far behind compared to many of our European and Asian counterparts.

    What everyone needs to takeaway from this thread:

    -45% of the D&D users who voted think they are smarter than 99% of the population.
    -51% of the D&D users who voted think they are smarter than 95% of the population.
    -64% of the D&D users who voted think they are smarter than 90% of the population.
    -79% of the D&D users who voted think they are smarter than 75% of the population.
    -91% of the D&D users who voted think they are smarter than 50% of the population.

    Keep in mind, the D&D is one of the smaller sub-forums.

    I guess you should have made this an open poll. I'd like to see the reasoning or justification behind people's answers.

    A smart person would have anticipated the results of the poll and given all of us smarty-pants more options between 90% and 99%. Looking at our poll results, I'd say that it's probably true that 91% of D&D voters in this poll are smarter than 50% than the population. The 99% one probably isn't as close to being true though.:grin:
