    From via google:

The U.S. federal government spent over $15 billion dollars in 2010 on the War on Drugs, at a rate of about $500 per second. State and local governments spent at least another 25 billion dollars. Source: Jeffrey A. Miron & Kathrine Waldock: "The Budgetary Impact of Drug Prohibition," 2010.

Of course they are. The arguments for mar1juana legalization about victimless crimes and vanquishing overseas drug cartels are applied just as readily to all illegal narcotics.

You eat mar1juana and you get high. You eat heroin and you are in the ER.

People die from heroin overdose frequently. I have never heard of a mar1juana overdose death.

They aren't the same thing at all.

Actually you probably don't . Heroin isn't very active orally.

I didn't posit they were the same thing, I asserted that the arguments used in favor of mar1juana legalization mirror the arguments used to legalize drugs across the board.

But this is a weak argument for continuing the drug war. There are plenty of legal substances that would be just as dangerous if kids got a hold of them.

Those bags are universally $20 flat. If they want to cut it or whatever, they alter the amount of actual heroin, not the price of the bag.

That means this lady had $5k worth of heroin, bagged up like she did. Definitely a dealer or distributor. Maybe a user too, but not a super strung out junkie. If some rock star or actor or wall street type that wants $5k of heroin will get it off the brick. Those baggies are for street corner dealers.

For all of the problems associated with ending the drug war, the ability to get low priced, high quality drugs is supposed to be an upside, as it puts dealers out of business. Therefore In this instance, it would have fixed the problem, as heroin dealing mommies would have been undersold by the state and gone out of business.

In Switzerland, registered junkies go to the doctor 2x a day to get their fix. They don't have to be running around, buying drugs out of some s**tty row house, from some amoral scumbag dealing drugs with their children present.

Perhaps, but the child wouldn't have observed her mother dividing them into packaged sized portions and handing them out to others in a friendly or amiable manner.

Well if you ended the drug war, her mom would no longer be selling. So maybe we are on the same side of this argument.
