Seems my mac harddrive is dead. I need to get to a repair tech to see if I can save data on there at the very least, but I can't seem to find a local mac repair shop. I'm looking for something near Eldridge and Westheimer off of I10 if possible.

I talked to the Mac store and they said I needed a repair tech.

Have you tried using a program like spinrite? Maybe getting the HD functional enough to transfer the Data?

The system will not boot. Not into safe mode, single user, verbose or recovery.

You could try using another mac to boot yours via firewire as a target disk, see if it is accessible, in order to transfer your files to a backup if they aren't backed up.

Also, I highly recommend DiskWarrior for disk repair. I believe the creator (Allsoft?) is a Houstonian too. Very responsive, and a great program.

You can try a computer shop/Data Recovery place called Data Doctors. They're located on W. Holcombe and Buffalo Speedway.
