Papanikolaou leaning toward two-year deal with Rockets

After what's happened this summer, "leaning" is never a good sign.

 

His role is the Garcia/Delfino role.

According to Eurohoops, the Rockets' initial offer combined with the buyout clause would net Pap around 1/3 of his salary with Barcelona next year, so he turned it down.

Talks are still on-going and a second offer is expected to come soon.

Too good for D-League! Need & want established role with consistent playing time!

 

Well heck. I was looking forward to seeing just what this forward could do.

 

I would have liked to see him in Houston, but we don't need anyone who doesn't want to be here.

 

It was more than expected ... he can't pay 900.000 euros by himself without a very good contract.

 

The Rockets are gonna have to gamble money (and flexibility) on one of these guys if they want them to come over. Why would a guy leave for less money AND an indeterminate role?

Eh, uprooting your entire life and moving to another continent to play a reduced role for 1/3 of your previous salary?

I'd say that's enough to drive anyone away, no matter how much they want to be here.

 

I think he's wanting in on some of that MLE money.

Yeah, it's a crazy amount of money, even with the Rockets paying for part of it, which is limited to $300,000, I think. Something like that.
