Perhaps this is an interview in disguise to see if Elie has the ability to fire these guys up or not without putting the "interviewing" pressure on him.

Mad Max was the emotional leader of that beloved 1993-94 NBA Championship squad. I absolutely loved his heard and desire. He singlehandedly turned the Phoenix series around. That is what we need here.

You know, I just realized Elie has just as many rings as McHale. So their championship pedigree is even. And you could give Elie the edge since he won B2B titles which the Celtics never did in the 80s.

Good point, could be. If I'm not mistaken Ellie originally interviewed for job before they settled on McHale. Ellie would be a great addition and should have at least been an assistant with this team before now.

"the ball got sticky" "play harder"

McTalky has run out of things to say so they had to bring in a former Rocket champion to inspire the team.

The problem in this series so far isn't that our guys aren't playing fired up. The problem is that they are playing DUMB basketball.

No one loves The Junkyard Dog more than me, but it's going to take a lot more than a pep talk to fix this before Wednesday.

Elie, with a top notch offensive assistant, would have been a good foundation for a coaching staff.

Speaking of which, seeing the coaching staff from the JVG era made me semi-nostalgic (until I remember how turgid our offense was back then) - both Steve Clifford and Thibs were assistants under JVG. No wonder we were so beastly on defense.

Heh. Ellie was wide open, and Dream was underneath for the rebound, there was still 20 seconds on the clock.

22 free throws for KJ? That's more than Harden all series...

It's funny that the KJ dunk over Hakeem still gets so much run. I mean, it was impressive...but they lost the series, so who cares?

Maybe the Rockets should bring in Danny Ainge to teach them how to throw the ball at LMA's head after every basket he scores.

KJ owned Kenny and Sam in the 1994 and 1995 series. They could not guard that guy. In fact, Sam I Am I believe fouled out of Game 7 in Phoenix. So thank goodness Elie hit that 3, cuz overtime would not have been good with us shorthanded.

No chest/side bumps? Shot must not have been that big a deal.

Rockets just gotta view it as win one on the road, defend home court.

They are the more talented team, but they have been atrocious at closing. They have been outscored last 4 4th quarters.

4 possessions? Try 2. The failure to secure a defensive rebound at the end of regulation in Game 1 and the Lin turnover in Game 4. That's the difference between a first round exit and victory.

Who will be the Chucky Brown in tomorrow's Game 5?

He came off the bench for 15 points, 8 rebounds, and great defense in 1995's Game 5.
