In either case, Wall Street has at least paid its' debts by making American treasury debt quasi-invincible. America could keep on chugging along, regardless.

 

If Republicans become reasonable regarding revenue increases, we could erase the debt altogether.

 

Would you rather have $1 of debt at 10% interest, or $3 of debt at 2% interest?

US interest payments are far less of a burden on the US economy today than they were in the 1980's.

 

Cut the defense budget in half and we instantly eliminate our debt problems ...but GOP wants to add rather than subtract.
