    According to Zachary Levine...

    The Astros are scrapping the Junction Jack mascot next year. Astros will reveal a new mascot to replace Junction Jack this offseason. Contest to determine the body inside.

    Probably hard to find a good mascot theme for the 'Stros - Maybe a baseball with a jet-pack... A rabbit was obviously not going to get the carrot... Ugh that was a lame attempt.

    They designed Orbit based on submissions from school children in the Houston area and Orbit's first public appearance was at my elementary school, Heflin, in 1990. I was there and still remember that day so I've always been partial to Orbit as the mascot. I'd love it if they brought him back.

    i grew up with orbit, i would love to see him make a comeback.. im not familiar with the other mascots of the pre 90's astros..

    Junction Jack gave me free tickets to an Astros game because I held an Elevator door open for him.

    He was out of costume when he did that.

    They were upperdeck Bullpen tickets though. But free is free.

    Forget mascots, what about cheerleaders? We can call them the Astros Power Dancers. They can perform in-between innings but not during the game because they could get hit by a line-drive foul ball. The Marlins have one, why not Houston?
