If you do, how is it affecting your life??? How do you sleep/when do you sleep, when do you have time to go out, or do you?? I sympathize for people who have this life style, there's no break at all, just work/work/work...

I switched over from a logistics position to a full-time end-user testing position for the same in-house transport software around October a couple of years ago; between developing test cases for three different projects and letting regular employees use the testing environment for smaller one-off fixes during the day, I ended up deciding to work until 2 am and put in weekend and holiday time for a couple of months.

I got to the point where if I was genuinely exhausted, I would just take 2 hours off in the middle of the day and then come right back to work. (If you can still make a professional-level salary, a small company/corporate field office in a smaller city really is the best place to go. The company I briefly worked at right after that required 5 days notice for a day off of work, global corporate HR departments suck balls.)

I was leaving for work one day and saw I had a flat, but I had a testing demo I wanted to present and get over with, so I drove to work, did the presentation and then left; by the time I got to Sears Auto Center I was riding on rims.

I work 5 days a week, but I've been doing overtime for as long as i can remember so I'm working 5am-5.30pm

I spend the evenings and weekends just recovering to be honest.

I do, but I only work about 3 or 4 hours a day. I'm a freelancer tutor and writer. I work for myself, so I can schedule whatever I want.

I am working 6 days a week right now. But when I work overtime I get +50% on my base rate, so that keeps you plugging through it.

I work seven days a week (plus some evenings as well), but my jobs on Saturday (opera rehearsal/performance) and Sunday (music director at a church) are only half-days. But yeah, it starts to wear on you a bit. The biggest annoyance to me is not the fatigue. It's more that so many people I know can get away for the weekend, but I never do. Fortunately, Austin is a pretty fun town.

Only during tax season, and this year has been especially brutal.

My condolences to those who do, that sounds awful. I work 9/80s and have every other Friday off and my "long" weeks like this week feels like such a grind :p.

I think working graveyard shifts is just as bad. I sleep the WHOLE morning, day, and work evening-morning. Weekends are spent sleeping.

I don't understand what he has to do with this.

I work 7 days per week a lot of the time, but I work for myself so I chose to do so and I work whatever hours I want to work. Sometimes I'll do this for a few weeks just to take a week off and relax.

do you choose to work overtime? if you don't need the money, why do you do it? i'm genuinely curious, not being judgmental.

I do sometimes and the last two months have worked some everyday of the week. My work is either really busy or it's really slow so when things are busy I could work as much as 100 a week.

I agree it can get stressful and as I'm getting older I am getting much more careful about as much time I put in to keep a good work life balance.

Had to work 16-17hr days for a conference in Vegas once. It was a 10-day long ordeal too. 10 days straight! And I had to maintain a clear head so I could blog and send out corporate communications.

A little piece of me died that week.

When on an incident, I work 14-16 hours a day for up to 21 days straight. The usual is 2-3 per year, though some years it has been in the 5-7 range. I once worked 12 hour days 6 days a week for 15 months. That was tough. Other than that, I party every day.
