I'm fairly new to this political system, meaning I've only voted in one election 4 years ago and I wasn't paying that closely to what was really happening and the way it all works out.

From what I'm hearing, the republicans are talking about Obama having this billion-dollar campaign, and they need a candidate who can match him dollar for dollar....

Trying to simplify in my mind what this means, I'm coming up with the more money you have/get, the more votes you believe you should get?

I get the whole idea (more money = wider spread campaign / more events / more people you can meet and talk to on a personal level ect...)

But doesn't that seem wrong? Why isn't there a CAP on how much can be spent on your campaign? Why does it look as if the guy who raises the most money wins? What am I missing? Educate me please.

Corporations aren't people, they are mountain lions. I don't know why the Supreme Court thinks otherwise.

    To Toycen:

What happens if me and my friends go out and create a movie that talks about how Obama sucks and Romney is awesome? I have nothing to do with the Romney campaign. But if I spend 1000 dollars to get a camera to make this movie, does that become part of this cap or not?

For someone new to the political system, you seem to have awfully strong opinions about Ron Paul.

I would look at it as a no. Unless the money for the video camera to make the movie was sent to you from Romney (or his campaign) then I would say yes.
