If they are convicted of committing a violent crime, they should be immediately transferred to immigration custody and deportation process should begin. I don’t think this is controversial.

A practical problem with mass, indiscriminate deportation is it strains our capacity and that of receiving countries to properly deal with the actually violent ones.

And yet, Trump still Deported less than Biden and Obama in 2025. Everything Trump does is a FAILURE.

Obviously it is based on the massive, violent, riots and attacks on law enforcement by leftists throughout the nation.

Foreigners can pop into a US territory, have a baby, and the baby is automatically a US citizen. I don't believe it should be like that. As usual, American leftists support foreigners over Americans.

The whole anchor baby discussion is a complete red herring. No one has been able to quantify anything other than a handful of articles that postulate that less than 100 babies were deliberately born this way.

And if you really want to stop that, the US could easily pass a law banning pregnant women from coming to the US on B1/B2 visas/statuses. That can be prevented without altering the 14th amendment.

True. Much simpler to implement also (which you’d think would be preferable for small-government conservatives).

No. Are you intentionally conflating treatment of immigrants in general with treatment of convicted violent criminals in particular, are do you really have difficulty making the distinction?

Your framing presupposes that birthright citizenship for the children of immigrants must come at the detriment of other Americans. Why are you convinced of this?

You're dodging the point. You apparently agree that people should pop into the U.S. and their newborn baby automatically receives US citizenship. I don't share your view.

So you believe it's ok to riot and attack federal officers for daring to apprehend and deport people that aren't supposed to be in the US. Again, I don't share your radical view.

No, I’m asking you to justify your call to undo existing constitutional rights for those born here. Why do you think that birthright citizenship hurts Americans overall?

No, I don’t. Again, you seem to not understand that one can simultaneously support constitutionally protected protest against ICE for their general treatment of immigrants and also support deportation of convicted violent criminals who have no legal right to be here and also be against protesters using violence or destroying property.

With this admin, it doesn't even need to be a congressional law. Just issue an EO.

But the reality is this admin loves rich people. See the "Gold Card" EO. The people who can afford to fly here, stay a few weeks to months, and pay the hospital costs so their baby can be an American citizen are exactly the kind of people this admin likes.

The "constitutuonal right" is open to conjecture. Hopefully the SCOTUS will do the right thing and put an end to foreign tourists popping into the US to have babies and be given citizenship and all the rights that go with it. I don't know why you support such a thing.

So how do you want to nicely deport someone who doesn't want to leave?

(as I have the other person on ignore)

Not sure how this relates to 14A. If the idea is that babies should bear the consequences of their parents’ actions, whether past, present, or hypothetical, that notion has long been rejected as backward. Historically, serious crimes could punish entire families, including children, but such practices were gradually abolished and are no longer part of modern legal systems.

No baby should lose 14A rights because a parent acted illegally. Modern society rightly rejects that backward approach.

Perhaps you didn’t read my posts where I expressed openness to preventing that very situation.

I’m still waiting for you to explain why you think giving a child of immigrants who is born here the same rights as a child of a US citizen is overall detrimental to other citizens. You keep talking about supporting these kids “over Americans”. Why do you look at the rights afforded to citizens as zero-sum?

Are we still talking about deporting violent criminals?
