Can't assume they'll strike gold with 2 freshman PGs in a row, but they've got a pretty good one coming in. Harwell has got to be better next year, and fully healthy, right? Same with the big man who can't get on the court. Transfer portalings will be interesting to watch.
How is it that much different than IMG Academy-type kids? The Ivisic twins played on U-19 teams, and I believe Mirkovic was the same as far as I know. They all came over here before/at age 20. Peja Stojakovic's kid never played as a pro overseas. I agree that the NCAA needs some hard and fast rules about eligibility, but we've seen multiple court challenges to that just this year by American former pro (GLeague, NBA 2-way, etc) players. It ain't just the Euros.
I don't have an issue with it eligibility wise. I even said it's a good strategy. But I'm still gonna b**** about it if I don't personally benefit.
Different players but Marcus Sasser was a much more dynamic scorer. Kingston will be the better pro but Sasser was the whole package on offense. Under a different coach/system, Sasser could have lead the nation in scoring no doubt about it.
his season never really got going because of injuries. good size and i'm sure he will eventually be a good player but i'm not mad about it. i hope he lands in a good spot.
I always thought it was a long shot Harwell would stick around. But I think Sampson gave him more than enough opportunities to be a viable part of the rotation. He just couldn't shoot to save his life. Mercy Miller and Chase McCarty earned those minutes and sometimes you just have to tip your cap and work harder -- but that will never happen in the Transfer Portal Era. FG-FGA when Isaiah Harwell played 16 minutes or more this season 1-2 3-8 1-4 1-4 1-4 8-14 1-7 0-4 1-3 4-14 2-8 2-2 3-9 1-6 0-5 1-5
Coming in, I was hoping he'd light it up and thought he'd be the most impactful of the "big 3" and would give them an outside shooting presence. It's a shame it didn't work out that way.
What's with this noise about Chris super snacks considering returning? I wonder if he's looking at where he might land if he stayed one more year lit it up. With all the talent that's coming out this year he's outside the top 10 most likely. Maybe he's thinking if he gets enough money to return and get coached up and be the focus of the offense along with Miller he can develop into a top five pic next year. Last year the top five pick made 8.2 million and the number 10 pick made 5.7 million. I can't imagine is nil would make up that difference but if he was top three next year which was 11 million last year maybe financially it could be worth it to stay one more season. Since they sign a two-year guaranteed contract if I remember correctly with a third year option. He could have really helped himself if he could have shot the ball better versus Illinois and went on to have a good tournament. We know his potential is there and he's a rebounding fiend already. I just assumed halfway through the season there was no way he was coming back. This would be huge because with the freshmen coming in and some of the talent that should be coming back they need all the help they can get on the front line. They have no one returning on the front line that's played Major minutes.
Id have to assume Tugler is coming back for his senior year. I just don’t see Arafan Diane, Jo Tugler, and Chris Cenac all fitting into the same front court.
They refused to promise him minutes… he may turnout to be good, but Sampson wasn’t as high as some apparently.
Wants to comeback but wants money as well to help off set injury or lost NBA salary. Actually think he is the rare sophomore that would benefit from another year in college. He was starting to put things together. I don’t think UH will come up with the money and he goes in 20-30 of the draft, but we will see. Tuggler will be back, and an older transfer will be added.
