at least crawl out of your hole for a contender or top tier team

but doing all that simping and acting all impressed over the Pelicans is some funny sh*t

Reed plays well against the Pelicans, Grizzlies, Jazz, Nets, Bulls, etc? Ok, cool.

A 5th year player, 2x All-Star, and our “franchise player” doing so? I do not care

I get that they weren't but thats what they were supposed to be. It just didnt work out that way.

Also KD sucks and he probably works less with Sengun than Jalen did. He needs to go.

So you are with the guy who didn’t watch the game, who isn’t impressed by a perfect performance by a young prospect and runs to the keyboard to bash Sengun in every opportunity and you think that is enjoying the victory. You guys are in good company of each other.

I’ve been tough in my criticism of Sengun all season but I have to be fair now; he has been much more efficient, has lowered the turnovers, is rebounding with a little more effort (although still think it could be better), and has picked up the defensive effort. And obviously shooting better from the outside. Kudos Alperen.

Im with whomever likes the ROCKETS. I think thats the problem with most fans, they've become fans of INDIVIDUALS and not the team as a whole.

I said in another thread regarding last night's game, how I was proud of the postgame interview Sengun AND Tari gave last night. It shead a lot of light on the TEAM as a whole and what they have been going through.

Im from a different era, where fans cared about the team and the team alone. I think caring for individual players have lead to division and racial divide within the same fan base.

Just an example!! And Im not picking on @DaDakota , because from what all I know on Clutchfans about him, he seems to be ok. But I give him grief behind Reed Sheppard. He is a huge Reed Sheppard fan but hated Jalen Green for being, guess what?? INCONSISTENT!

To me, they are both INCONSISTENT. Ive pinpointed how Reed has been inconsistent throughtout college, last yr and this yr, as well. And he is a defensive liability....it's who Reed is! However, the more I point it out, the harder @DaDakota stance becomes. He is just a fan of Reed Sheppard. I like Jalen and thought he could've benefited from playing next to KD, similary to how Jabari has benefited. But thats about it!

My ties are to the Rockets. However, I feel as though if Sengun or Reed is ever traded, there are some on here who will follow them and no longer follow the Rockets.

so in this story, you looked at the posts here and you decided that the poster who doesn’t like the best young prospect with no character issues, who signed a good extension with the rockets is the one who likes the rockets? Not only he doesn’t like Sengun, he calls him fat and lazy despite Sengun is a very hard working guy. That’s your guy who likes the rockets.

Of course that doesn’t bother you. Because that is where you are at and your history shows it. Nobody is buying your ‘I like Sengun when he hits 5 3s’ bs.

by the way, I see that you don’t have a single post for 2 months after July 6. Must be mourning over the Jalen trade.

I understand the frustration though. The players you root for never turn out to be good, kpj, wood, Jalen, cam. And being down on jokic and Sengun, lol. Tough life!

I mean you're right that it's one game against a bad team and ultimately doesn't mean much. But the way he dominated the Pelicans is at least a small spark of hope. As far as internal development goes, I can't think of anything that would improve this team more than one or both of Sengun or Amen developing real 3P shots.

I wouldn't base any real decisions over the offseason on just this one game... but if he were to finish out the season taking/making significantly more three pointers, and on through the playoffs, that would be something to think about. So there's at least the potential for it to be the start of something good, not that I'm holding my breath

Great post, hit the nail right on the head. We're not celebrating a stat-stuffed sheet against a bottom feeder, we're celebrating a notable increase in defensive effort/intensity/effectiveness alongside a really smooth, fluid looking jump shot that lead to a much better than recent shooting performance from deep. In a season of regression, lack of development and stagnating offense I don't think it's wrong for us as a fanbase to celebrate when our most promising young prospect makes significant steps towards rounding out his weaknesses (even if it was for just one night so far.) Now we just hope it continues (like his efficiency has maintained recently over the last few games.)

Wrong on so many levels. Just like how you think Sengun is our best young prospect.....Its Amen! However, thats your interpretation.

I think Sengun is a good player but he has some serious flaws; he picks his moments when he wants to play defense and he doesn't play well against elite competition.....ITS FACTS.

Ive never questioned his stamina but if you look at his play late in games, not counting the recent Minnesota game, he does have tendencies to miss defensive assignments and miss free throws late in games, which is a direct result of fatigue.

It took Jokic yrs to get to the point where he had stamina to finish games strong, maybe Sengun gets there too

Well, I knew from Day 1, that Jalen Green was never going to be a great player, and that he was pretty much a dumbass - whereas Reed has a very high BBall iQ......

I like Higher IQ players over lower ones.

And all I care about is players that make the Rockets better, for all of Reed's struggles on D, he still gets a ton of steals and blocks, Jalen also struggled on D - and was much more inconsistent.

After 4 years it was obvious who Jalen was (No surprise) - and Reed still has 2 years to get there, I do worry that Ime is a dumbass as a coach and won't actually make players better though, so there is that.

But you can pretty much figure who I like by their BBall IQ - those are my favorite types of players.

From the poster who thinks you can't win with Jokic but KPJ and Wood are starters on contending teams. Fits right in.

In a discussion of Amen vs Sengun, you state that only Sengun has serious flaws. And then you wonder how people figure out that you are a hater.

Jokic did not have stamina problems. Just because he has this look on his face doesn't mean he is tired. guy is the best offensive player ever, with the production right there for years, playing highest minutes with maxiumum role and you think he has stamina issues. That explains why you hate sengun as well. you don't care about basketball or knowledge of it. You only see a good player in what you think is an athletic body. Yeah Christian Wood starter on a contender, my azz.

Why are certain people acting like the Pelicans’ game is the only recent game in which Sengun dominated? He’s scored 30+ points in three of the last 5 games, 25+ in 4 of the last 7. The last 7 games, he’s averaged 25/9/7 while shooting .5 from 3. He’s clearly regaining much of his early season form, likely because his back is feeling better.

Even with his tough stretch likely caused by a back injury, few players can do what Sengun does.

Alperen Şengün is the 3rd Rockets player to have a 35/10/5 stat line with 0 turnovers, joining Tracy McGrady and Hakeem Olajuwon

Based upon the analogy you just gave, who really cares if the outcome of Jalen and Reed is the same? You get pretty much the same result, correct? Both are inconsistent and both are spotty on defense. No matter how you dressed the pig up....ITS STILL A PIG.

And thats what I mean by biases and racial divides. Im not saying you are racial, because I've seen your previous post but you can definitely feel the racial divide on this board.

However, back to Reed and Sengun. Im rooting for both, because they're Rockets but you can not deny their obvious flaws against the better competition. And just because myself or @Reeko points it out, we shouldn't be vilified for it. You guys watch the games, you see them struggle against better competition, you see Reed have 2 or 3 good games, then 2 or 3 bad games.....JUST ADMIT IT.

I do have my concerns about his back. It seems to come and go basically every season and really hit his performance hard when it's hurting him. But man, if he can ever consistently be that guy we saw the first 19 games of the season (23, 9 and 7 on 50 % / 39% shooting) and we're seeing lately, we do have our guy after all. I keep waffling on my view on him, he's been so up and down this season.

On the one hand, you want to say "oh yeah he's only 23 he can definitely do this consistently when he hits his peak years", but on the other hand, you do worry that what's holding him back could be chronic back problems.

I don’t talk about Reed that much…he’s a 2nd year player, and my expectations were never super high for him nor does he get superstar/“franchise player” talk

a good amount of the people yapping in here care more about Sengun’s performance and propping him up than the actual team…

if you pointed out how Draymond was locking him up during last year’s playoffs, they’d throw their little b*tch fit even tho it was a fact…if you bring up his abysmal clutch efficiency and free throw shooting, they start crying and bombarding you with one lame ass excuse after another

I don’t even take SOFs seriously to begin with…I’m not listening to somebody who will disappear if Sengun got traded this summer
