We basically brought KD in so he can chase his numbers. He had nothing else to play for anyway once FVV and then Adams went down (and weren't replaced in any fashion).
I already reported in a previous post that I have an inner circle friend within the organization and ge said that Ferttita is extremely satisfied with Stone and that when he signed Udoka to the five year guaranteed 55 million contract his job is safe until year five. Stone and Udoka have worked together to make the moves Ime wants.

I don't think that FVV is elite either - however I am not shocked that Udoka loves him -- JVV 20 years ago would have loved him too, same with Thibs a decade ago. FVV cannot create for anyone - FVV cannot drive to the basket - FVV isn't even a great passer. However, FVV is always a competent defender, and makes the right decision defensively - and he also never turns the ball over. So - to a coach that believes defense is 75% of the game, he is very valuable--- he limits turnovers and defends.... and his flaws aren't as readily considered.

I don't take anything Bill Simmons says about the Rockets seriously since he's a Celtics fan and wants to make it look like Mazzulla is the superior coach. Celtics are just run better because of Brad Stevens. If Mazulla had to coach a team with Stone as the GM he'd look like a bum too.

Then his choice in veteran presence and leader brings in character issues and our culture is bad not only internally but on full display for everyone to see.

The sad irony is that Stone is the one guy who is supposed to fix those issues like an injury to KD or FVV and did zippo at the trade deadline (for 5th straight year) and then has the gumption to say, “it’s just not our year”. As a die hard fan this is nothing short of giving the middle finger to the fanbase.
