I’ve asked around - and confirmed what I already knew. The Rockets front have no plans to fire Udoka or Stone. The idea hasn’t even been considered. They firmly and completely believe they would be next to OKC and SA if FVV and Adams were healthy. Trades are very possible - will be considered, but there is no rebuild. There is no new head coach. There is no new GM. At best we get an assistant or two changed and a deal to add to this group. I asked about a Basketball President of Operations or Executive President… was told they have Stone and Udoka to do that.
Pretty much expected but it's the worst possible news. The Rockets are on the way to becoming the Sacramento Kings.
They will be better next year IF KD and FVV are healthy - may win a playoff round but that is enough to likely keep Stone/Udoka around for a few more years at least.
Yea it’s about time I go in for hypnosis to become a fan of another team we thought le$ was bad this **** is torture and would have made the rising Sun give up even before we dropped those nukes
delusion is a helluva drug. Watching this team has not been enjoyable and I guess that’s not gonna change. I’m in Houston next week visiting my father. He asked if I wanted to go to the Rockets-Bucks game. I said no.
I'll never understand the Fred VanVleet delusion these guys have. He's solid, but he isn't elite at anything. And he was clearly in decline before his knee exploded so what the **** are we doing here?
The way we are going we might slid to seven and get bounced in the play in. If this is what is needed for changes to happen I am all for it. This product is unbearable. Yeah sure, let's wait for our savior 32 years old 37.8% FG shooting superstar FVV.
That's so disappointing. Neither deserves their job currently but if Stone pulls off a few trades to improve the team I'll give him the benefit of the doubt Ime is terrible but(and I'm sure you know) those two are joined at the hip
Is there any way to get out from Ime's contract? Cause no matter how much of liability and burden he is to this franchise and timeline. He seems to have a guaranteed spot here for awhile with a good chunk of change coming each year. Mike Malone seems like a no brainer of an upgrade, like Adelman to JVG or MDA to Mchale. Only difference is they were all not given a multi year extension after year 2 and fired in about 4 years each. Can he be traded? You would think with Stone being a lawyer, he would've had some sort of out or loophole to give himself flexibility/leverage to protect himself and the team from Ime not producing positive results. But, given everything we've seen, I think he drank the Ime Kool Aid and went all in with no safety net.
if what Nook says is true next year might be the first season since the original Silas season were i don't watch many rockets games.
Ime also getting pounded on yesterday's Bill Simmons and RealGM pods. The consensus is that, even without Fred and Steven, the offense shouldn't be this bad and the culture is even worse. Regardless, you have to expect that Ime will get a pass this season because Stone made no effort to get him help at the deadline. That also aligns with everything we've heard from the local media and connected fans like Clutch, DuBose, et al. But what if Ime gets swept in the first round? And he gets blown out in a few of those losses? That might be what it takes. I could easily see it happening, because I don't think many of these guys like playing for Ime - they might just quit on him and embarrass the team. Could he survive that?
What's the likelihood of... 1. Trading KD this summer or... 2. Doubling down on KD by trading for another star to pair with him. People were saying the exact opposite the past two years though and the team was trending in the right direction. That's why I don't get these fire Ime takes.
Not surprising that they wouldn’t have considered it yet. They still have their last excuse (FVV) and lots of money on their deals. That’s why I keep saying, firing Udoka won’t be considered till middle of next season. When everyone’s healthy and they still can’t deliver what they promised the seats will get hot. Also, Tillman and Patrick seem very much like the type who will react to public criticism when it becomes more mainstream. They’re not basketball people so they have no other way to discern they’re being duped by Stone and CAA. Their one saving grace would be if Sengun or Amen learn to shoot this summer but still we have to account for significant regression from Durant at this age and usage.
Well............. Of course, Tiltitta might change his mind. But he's too busy making sure our portions are miniscule at his mediocre restaurants.
