I want to be glass half full and say they were so bad, yet miraculously only down by two at the half, but that was such a brutal offensive performance. Historically bad. And it’s not because Illinois has some incredible stifling defense. Clanger after clanger after clanger on open or lightly contested shots. Just some of the worst shooting I’ve seen from a Sampson team.
Michigan has the record for lowest point total in a Sweet Sixteen half. 16 points. At least they weren’t that bad. Let’s see if they can score more than 44 (Michigan’s total in that loss). https://sports.yahoo.com/michigan-texas-tech-ncaa-tournament-first-half-record-030958036.html
Illinois is just too big for UH. If our shots don’t fall from deep, we won’t be able to win this one.
This is probably where the Coogs let it get away. Great season. As usual, we just don’t have that big game shooter. We have streaky guys but not that big game guy. Haven’t had that guy under Sampson yet.
