My kids and grandkids are in town so I only got to watch the first half. I checked the score later and saw we lost in OT! I'm afraid to watch the tape because I know it likely didn't capture the whole game. WTFO? They didn't have Ant and we still couldn't beat them?? We'll be lucky to win 1-2 games in the first series, this is absolutely a TRAGIC season for the players and the fans. Owners, Staff and Coaches will all make money and go on their vacations, but the rest of us lose another year of what could have been. Go Astros!
Amen = best athlete on the team but can't make an outside shot if his life depended on it Sengun = gifted offensively but can't play defense, whines too much to the refs, and is inconsistent JSJ = shows signs of being a really good player but then disappears when the moment becomes too big for him Reed = gifted outside shooter but a HUGE liability on defense Durant = he's great but he is also 37 and you have to think that he is getting worn down by all of the shenanigans going on Tari = great athlete but plays stupid Okogie = trash Tate = also trash Capela = washed up Holiday = can dribble and hit an occasional 3 but that is all No one else worth talking about I actually enjoyed last year's Rocket team so much better due to Dillon Brooks - his toughness was contagious and made everyone else better. Too bad that Jalen Green never developed into a consistent scorer. It DEPRESSES me to no end that the Spurs have caught up and surpassed us in the West - and now with OKC, we are going to always be behind them - we will never going to sniff a Finals appearance...31 years and counting.
Not hate at all. Simply an honest assessment of where this team is currently. I also said the trade ruined the team. I have written about the blunder of management coaching and ownership thinking this would work. But mostly I am for player accountability and merit. I hold all players accountable. Many fans on here do not.
are you kidding? Tate led a lot of full court breaks in Silas years and handles well for his position. All he does is make winning plays and plays with intensity and passion which is something more than half the team lacks
Tate is the subject of this conversation. That is looking for someone to talk about. He is not even rotation worthy on most teams. Yes he has a fan base because he hustles and plays over his own abilities. Really Tate is what we are talking about.
I appreciate that you are consistent and almost always back up what you say with examples. I do think you have a tendency to be harder on players than coaches. It’s ok, but I would like for you to put more effort into critiquing Ime and the failures of the coaching staff. It is obvious to me, that Ime is not good at adjustments, is stubborn to a fault, and rarely if ever accepts any responsibility for our failures. Put it out there. Do you concur with any of that or is it strictly roster construction and players not stepping up? Let me put it another way that may be more constructive. I believe this team will run it back with minimal changes. Given that what would you do if you were Ime.
Durant's unique combination throws at least one teammate out of position. He is a SG on offense but can't play SG defense. So the only kind of player that would fit him is a guy who is fast enough to be SG on defense and big enough to play PF on offense.
You’re undervaluing him. And Udoka hasn’t used him properly. He makes more winning plays than Eason, DFS, or Sheppard and that’s a fact.
A lot of times we don’t know what goes on behind the scenes and why coaches do what they do. We don’t know the thought process or whether ownership and management has a hand in their decisions. We also don’t know personal reasons or relational type issues. Having said that, What I don’t like is how we use players. Tate for instance who almost always make winning plays and nets positive effects when on the court. But yet he doesn’t get to play. Same with Okogie. Yet DFS and Eason gets more time. I understand that coaches still believe in players and give them opportunities to play thru struggles but at some point you have the make the decision especially when you get nothing all game. Same with Sheppard. Again he is a developmental player and struggles with shooting in long stretches and decision making. JD gives this team the best look at pg in terms of stabilizing the offense. He’s also a developmental player but at least he’s got more experience and gives you a better chance in terms of offensive flow and not repeated TO’s and bad decisions. Capela is another guy he doesn’t play even when Sengun struggles. It baffles me he goes small sometimes against bigger teams like the wolves for instance. I don’t like how we don’t run tight DHO’s. We also don’t do enough curls or slips etc to get guys like Tari or Jabari easier buckets. I also don’t like how our passing is delayed or we almost never make a pass on the break. That’s on coaching if it consistently happens. We usually run the break full steam one guy takes it all the way whether its 1 on 1, 2 on 1 or 3 on 1, you rarely see a pass to the trailer. We haven’t seen a team this bad on the break since the van gundy years.
