Game 1 and we're already questioning Espada's lineups (I agree with both of you btw). Buckle up folks and put your work shoes on because we're going to have to deal with a lot of Espada's crap.
Even in the really, really bad years, I always had hope on Opening Day. I believe “hope springs eternal” was coined by Abner Doubleday.
Today in downtown will be a sportsman's paradise: Astros OD, then 2 Sweet 16 games Sucks to be anyone trying to leave between 3 and 7
It's a shitty lineup, but I do suspect Espada is trying to 'lead off the year' with Jose Altuve. Now if he keeps him leadoff going forward, especially when Pena is back, then I'll be pissed. And I'm actually glad he moved Walker down early in the year. I was a bit worried he would 'protect the vet' and bat him 4th or 5th.
I do agree that moving Walker and Diaz down is good. I get that without Pena there is no good leadoff option.
I actually like the lineup even though it highlights the weakness of the team. It puts the 2nd lefty in the middle and pushes Walker and Diaz down to take the pressure off of them. Astros have so so much riding on Cam Smith this year.
Nothing beats baseball I still remember the incredible spring feeling every year. The smells. Dissecting the Astros early season box scores in the morning (and after school). Little league starting up again, seeing who was on your team this year. Sometimes you got to break in a new glove. Every boy was an expert on that. I left so much out It’s a magical time for a youngster
No matter how good or bad of a team you think you have... Opening Day is always the best day of the year.
Dang, Skenes got lit up and taken out after 2/3rds of an inning allowing 5 runs. If he can't lock it down then anything can happen this year.
When I say the weather has been perfect for the last two weeks (and will never be as good as this in these parts for the rest of the year)… you better believe it. At least those attending the golf will be comfortable. Not always the case.
